Default Thinking FI

Hey guys. well the car is almsot paid off. Bolt ons will go first and what not but i am anxious to know where i want to head after my bolt ons. I kind of want to stay away from engine work internally. So therefore i was thinking maybe a nice Turbo kit or supercharger. This car will rarely go to the track and will mainly be a street warrior. I want something simple where i dont need to worry about tuning MUCH and/or problems. I have researched a lot and narrowed the supercharger down to the D1-Sc 8 rib SDCE kit if i went that route. Oh also.... if i go FI i will keep it around 7-9 intercooled lbs and STOCK engine. So my question is..... for a street warrior on the STOCK engine for now..... would you go turbo or s/c? How about the STS kit? What do you guys recommend. I know i will get a ton of guys in here saying... this isnt for you cuz u will want mroe boost and keep blowing moeny on building motor, etc. Well i will be perfectly happy for now with 7-9 lbs. So the most affordable and user friendly kit for stock engine application. I believe the D1SC kit is around 6 grand for all the pieces, correct? or 5 grand ish? And the STS kit is 4 grand? I basically want a nice kit that has pretty much all i need in it where i can bolt up and net some real nice numbers for the street and keep it easy.......

it all depends on your preference if youlike turbo vs S/C.

if you dont mind having a rear mounted turbo in the back of your car, sts will work, is affordable and will get you the numbers you need.

the 8 rib d1sc setup seems to be the most popular setup ive seen with supercharged setups. ease of installation, around the same price range, maybe a bit more then the sts, but people seemed to be pleased with it.

it depends upon $$$$$$$$

how much change u got

sc is better for a stock engine.

im dont know many people that have a turbo on a stock engine..minus the STS kit....are we still classifying that as a turbo kit?

Yea 6 grand will get you the kit, not installed and dyno tuned. Plus if you buy the kit used you might not get all the fuel accesroies, as your def gonna have to upgrade your injectors and your fuel pump. In addition, your def gonna have to look into some suspension work as well as a beefed up rear end. I was in the same boat as you, wanted to spend around 6 grand and get an ati procharger pushing 8lbs of boost on my stock engine, but it will always cost you more in the end. What I have decided to do (and will hopefully be installed this fall) is a good sized cam, some afr 205 heads, and a 12-bolt rear end, along with a dyno tune. This should put me between 420-440 rwhp (depending on the sized cam i choose, probably an FM13 or FM14). That will be about 6 grand all together, and it will be set up to take that extra power. Just ask the other guys on the board who dove into FI, they will tell you it costs WAY more than you think its gonna be.
