I just picked up a BBK 80mm Throttle Body.. what kinda of improvements can I expect? It's a LS1 intake, not LS6. (was supposed to be.. long story).
Is this worth putting on? (Mods are in sig)

Yea, the thing is I got it for free. So I was contemplating to either install it, or sell/trade it for an intake of sorts (LS6/Holley). I know an intake is good for ~ 30RWHP on a FI car. Not sure about the 80mm TB, though.
Gotta figure out which would be more beneficial.

Doh. Now there's a negative opinion, anyone else want to chime in?
So much for it being widly promoted by everyone.. lol. I assume all of those who replied have a sort of FI setup? Correct?

I had a friend with a 89 Mustang LX with a BBK throttle body on it and he ate a screw from it. From what I have heard they aren't very good, and you have to make sure all the screws are tight on a pretty regular basis, or you'll end up eating one. Keep in mind this is not from personal experience, just what I've heard from a close friend.

Go ahead and get a ported one from Jantzer Performance (a sponsor). They are cheaper, flow better, and his can be powdered coated any color you want for the same price. The BBK is WAY overpriced for what it is.

I've heard they don't do you any good unless you've got extra cubes. Besides that, I'd still take a ported TB for the money.
Yes I do have one though.

magnux, so what was the verdict? Any thoughts on how it performed (assuming you've had time to swap it out and guage the difference any)?

Anybody want a home-ported MAF? Got it attached to a Whisper Lid that I can't use anymore ( Incon kit ) . . . make me an offer, it's just sitting in the garage. Ron Larson ( Kimchee and Rice ) helped me do the work, it's very smooth.
