To go FI or build motor???
do you race every weekend?
is it bracket racing or just the test & tune?
if this car isnt going to be a bracket car i'd build the 408 with 8.5 CR with
callies/lunati crank
lunati pro billiet rods
1/2'' studs
AFR/ET heads
then buy a dual nozzel or a DP kit and spray the **** out of it until the turbo arrives.
i had this same delima.
however i will be bracket racing almost every weekend.... so FI is not my best bet because of the huge fluctuations in air tempatures.
if its just going to be a sick street car... might even just build a 370... its cheaper and youll prolly never know the difference on the street...
650-800rwhp i dont think youll know the difference cause it wont ever hook up any ways

if the car is mainly a street car then i typically wouldnt worry about getting too big of a turbo....
and 700rwhp is very attainable with a 370..
but then you have your fuel upgrades... thats where it seems like to get expensive... ex.
sumped take- 800
big fuel pump- 500
injectors- 500
fuel lines - 250
fittings- 175
rails - 150
the fact of all the fuel up grades and the inconsistent track times has detoured me away.
but if its a street only car consistency then turbo is sick...
in FI, when i added it up, its all the small things that make it soo expensive.
before you make any kinda decision on short blocks make sure and sit down with a calculator and paper and total it all up.
you can easily put $30,000 into the car.
drivetrain
fuel delivery
chassis
motor
body
tires
rims
it all adds up.... just make sure before you start, you know how much it will cost.
Have fun!

there are ford 302's making over 1800 hp....
when you have a small motor you have to be willing to spin it up higher...
you will have to do fuel mods wether you go big cubes or not...
EFI and FI mixed take a lot of fuel pressure...
if you think you will spend less than 15,000 on a 700rwhp+ FI motor you are kidding yourself...
it sounds like to me that you dont have the money to do it right now, and i hope that doesnt make you mad... becaues i know that i dont have the money to do that right now....
EFI with FI make an expensive toy.

because all the other supporting pieces....
what good is 900rwhp if you cant hook it?
my drive train alone has cost me:
th350 2000$
converter- 700
drive shaft 300
rearend- 3000 installed with light weight brakes
shifter- 150...
this was built to hold 1000hp
