Default Twin 58MM Turbos equal one 112MM Turbo?

i'm curious if having a twin turbo setup is essentially the same as a single turbo setup. i am mostly interested in the amount lag associated with each setup. A 112MM Turbo on a 370 would be really bad...like 5400rpms. would it be the same with the twin 58's or am i missing something? thanks

The spool would be faster for the twins. Comprsser wheel size isn't the only thing thats changes the amount of lag a turbo has. Twin 58mm turbos are more like equal to a single 76mm.

so you think they would spool about like a 76 around 3300? they would be capable of more horsepower that the 76 though right?

twin 59mm turbos will make more power than a single 76mm. Twin 59's are more like 80-88mm single turbos.... somewhere in there.

two 58's are nowhere near equal to a single 112. the best example of why is to draw a 6" circle. now draw two 3" circles inside the 6" circle. notice how much more total area there is in the 6" circle as compared to two 3" circles???....the same applies to turbo inducer sizes.

so from what you are all saying these turbos will have a lot of lag? what rpm would i be seeing boost? i do not want a full out drag car. i want a street car that i drive twice a week a and goto the track in once a week.i am hoping to make about 700rwhp on the street and about 900 or so at the track. i know i could do it with a single turbo but this just seems more fun and for me it is going to be cheaper to do. thanks

2 59's are the equivalent of a single 83.5 mm compressor.

yep, I drive it on the street quite a bit when it's not down for upgrades. the converter feels great on the track and the street. John says that the converter that I have in the car now is actually what he would sell as a 3600. it has no problem going to 4500 against the 2-step on the transbrake though.

my 61's make full boost at 3800.

Twin 59's will be between 80-88mm depending on the frame size of the single. If you are just going by wheel size. Mike has it covered above.

I beleve with twin turbos you'll see boost sooner then with the big single and make more power at less boost. But you'll lose the top end of the big single. Not sure on this though.
