Default changing wastgate spring

i just got my 5-7 lb wastegate spring from turbonetics. I had the 3-5 in before.
is there anything special i need to do, to change them.
and just to make sure i dont blow anything up, which way do you turn the allen head to get less boost?

i have the turbonetics deltagate 2.

Nothing special really...just remove the cover slowly so the spring doesn't pop it off too quickly. If I remember (it's been a while), screwing the set screw out loosens the spring and allows the diaghram to open earlier (lower boost) and vice versa.

forget the spring.....use a "grainger" type ball and check/valve to control boost. it is more accurate and lets you build boost a little faster. i have the 5-7 lb spring i think and use the ball/check to make 13psi. its the same 35-50 dollar boost controller you see on ebay...i think mine cost like 10 bux to make

i agree to set the boost with a mbc but you need to get it in the ballpark with the spring on the bottom or the creep and spool time is affected... to me it was.

I ran 22PSI on the pump with a T-50/T04E and a Grainger (actually McMaster-Carr) type MBC. The wastegate controller was a Garrett. It worked perfectly. No creep (which can be a function of exhaust size, or lag, which is mostly a function of the turbo size and intake restriction.)

I have two I just made up sitting on my bench right now. I'll give you one for $20 plus shipping if you're interested. I sell them to the Talon crowd. Send me a PM if you're interested.

If this is the ball/check vavle and not the "bleeder" type, then you should get this for 20 bux. Thats a SMOKINhawk deal <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> had to do it. Seriously....the air bleeder type valves are ****...like turbonetics sells. The ball check type will increase your spool time as well. generally 35-50 bux..awesome deal.

above is correct, just mind those seals in there upon reinstall.. start witht he screw out, and work it in until the boost is in the midrange of where you want it to be as far as boost accuracy and boost build time.
