Default Estimated cost of TT kit for LT1 car?

I've decided that early next year I am going to ditch the blower and switch to a tt kit. I already have a great th 40 tranny, 12 bolt rear, and big fuel system to hold it.

Whats the cost to get the turbos, have piping fabed, and get the car tuned from someone like cartech, or speed inc? Also what would it be best to switch over to something like a FAST system or Accell, I know my current stock pcm is about at its limit.

Are you including having a motor built or do you just want the turbo kit aspect of the project?

I arleady have a nice 396 setup with LT4 block and AFR heads though I am considering having the motor freshened up a little when doing this.

I would guess around 10k for a complete turbo kit...another couple g's for the dfi setup. Tuning around g-note. Figure 12-15 grand? And then multiply by 1.5 lol! At least that's what I always wind up doing and still coming short!

^yeah I know that how it seems to be with the costs of these things lol. Its even worse for me only being 23.

I'm also shooting for something around 900rwhp or so, maybe a little more depending on costs of turbos if that helps any.

Screw the twins!! Call PTK and get one of their singles with a T-88 or T-76GTS and put 1000hp to the ground. I'd probably be out the door for less than $6500 for the turbo kit, add 2000 for FAST and your set!!

Later,
Dave

If it was, everyone would have 1000 horsepower cars running low 12s.

I built my whole twin setup for under $3500. Throw in the FAST ($1700), injectors ($400), drivetrain upgrades ($3000), suspension work ($3000), it all piles up.

save 15 grand and if you don't use it all you will be happy. all depends on who you go to do this, labor is the thing that is gonna kill you, unless you can do it yourself.

I can't do it myself though I may be able to get someone to fab up the piping for me. I have 72 lb/hr high impiedence injectors, an aeromotive 2000 hp billet fuel pump and a decent suspension already.

He's not starting from scrach. He's going from a strong blower set-up to a Turbo set-up. He may hve to swap cams to optimize it but other than that and the fast system, he can go until he maxes out his fuel, or breaks something. He past most of the hard stuff.

SO in this case it really is pretty simple!! It just comes down to whether or not he wants to build his own kit or get one ready to go, complete from somebody else.

Never that simple...lol

I bought a system that already went super fast, and I'm still having a grand 'ol time getting it to just run (although I started from scratch aka nothing in the car so I had to do everything not just turbo stuff but rear, tranny, motor, wiring, fuel/water systems, etc etc etc).

Making 900rwhp and simple just don't go together. But I'm sure he'll work through it and accomplish what he plans. Just not cheaply that's all.

I would definitely go wit the PTK kit with an intercooler setup and a single T88. NO your done as far as the turbo kit goes. Lets call it $6500.

Turbo kit done.

Sounds like the fuel is there. $2500-3000 for Fast and tuning...(try and fine one used if possibl with little use).

I'd say the single kit can be done for around $10k.

The first set I looked at would've been around that price (twin 76GTS), but I went a tad smaller. They're smaller than a GTS, but bigger than what Harlan was running.

Wow twin 76's...that would be good for like what, almost 2000 hp? You'd need one hell of a chassis to harness that kinda power. Figure that kinda power should go over 190 in the quarter in a 3000 lb car.

Where can you get FAST for the LT1 cars?? I have a 96 WS6 and have been looking for management for it.... TO answer the topic though... It will cost you atleast $7K for all the hard pieces to build your kit, as long as you go with quality stuff. I am getting ready to start my Turbo kit for my car, I am doing all the piping, etc. myself as I have a TIG and I do fairly well at fabrication....

Heh, yeah. It wasn't intended to run in the LS1Tech series races. I don't even like track events too much.

I am leaning more towards a twin buildup than a single but I still have a little more time to do research and decide which route I want to go.

From the looks of it it seems it will be at least 10K and possibly a little more for the whole setup. Thats doable but if it starts pushing 15K or more I'll def have to hold off a little while longer for sufficient funds.
