Cheat Sheet for High Octane
F1 cars used to run pure toulene with enough heptane added to LOWER the octane rating to meet the octane specs.
They used to run 70psi back in the days when turbo f1 was allowed, making incredible power on that blend.Without the toulene blend it was not possible.
Toulene works better than any other booster I have ever tried.
I usually toss 2 gallons to 5 gals 93.

[QB]toulene is some serious stuff. From what I understand it is the better fuel to use than xylene even though it's octane is a tad lower.I can't remember why thoug.

Very very expensive to obtain pure xylene. When you buy it at the hardware or chem. store it's usually a mixture of others chem. because it's hard to isolate it. The octane rating is for pure xylene, the one you buy i.e. the mixture is diff. & the other chem. present in the mix. may be harmful to your engine, cats, etc...
Toluene is a safer bet.
thanks
where did you get that info on zylene, i have been runing some thru my engine and if it is a bad thing i will have to switch to toluene. i have no cats so that part isn't an issure.

I recently read the same in an article about octane booster, I believe it's at Idaho corvette.
Anyway, I use about 15% Toluene w/ my 7lbs ATI setup in my C5, seems to take care of the occasional pigging when it's hot outside.

How does Toluene compare to say, Torco? I've used that with 7psi mixed with 91 octane and I have no KR. That stuff works great. I've run Toluene once . . . it's damn expensive here in AZ at the paint stores!!!

Right now I am involved in painting the Vipers for DCX. Those chemicals are used for paint thinners...
And they're a great head-rush, too!
We turbobuick (GN/TType) have been using this for years.
3 gallons Xylene (117 octane)
7 gallons of 92 octane
2 ounces MMO
99.5 octane! (slight savings vs. buying 100 octane from a race fuel distributor)
Or.....
3 gallons Xylene (117 octane)
7 gallons 100 octane unleaded
2 ounces MMO
105.1 octane unleaded!
