Scared chitless!
I can't wait to dyno and 1/4 mile it! The dyno near here has been broken for weeks, they told me today, and is backed up for four weeks. I may have to drive to Greensboro. I called them, but got no answer.
Thursday is normally test-n-tune night. But, that's Thanksgiving, so I doubt they will be t-n-t'ing it this week.
If I go down home this weekend, I have to see if I can get a guage run before I jump on anybody spraying.
you know it's bad for your health, so as a service from me to you , i'm offering to take that car off your hands free of charge!
man !! thats nice to hear! hurry up and dyno / track run that beast!
I'm getting more boost, now, too. Before, I only saw about 2.5 to 3 PSI. Now that the motor is looser and revs a little better (and, I'm sure, a better tune is in), I see around 4 or 5 PSI. THAT is making heck of a difference in the power, too!
I shudder to think what this thing would do with enough fuel and 10 PSI!

What kind of transmission did you end up going with?

I still wanted to try sticking with the 4L60E and chose High Performance Associates to do the job. I talk about it here:

Everybody that saw me take off, and even beat a guy spraying Nitrous in a '99 Camaro SS, said there was NO car around there that could beat me (he quit about halfway, I was so far ahead). But, he asked for another run, and I tried to heat my tires up... only to keep blowing the fuse. If I took off easy, letting him get ahead a couple cars, and then leaned into it, I could catch him and beat him. But, if I used first gear with WOT, I'd blow that fuse.
Anybody with some recommendations aobut the problem, I'm all ears. I have to try to contact Kenny about it today.
Here are my initial thoughts about what is happening:
1. Somewhere the wire for power is shorting against the car when it flexes from the more powerful take-offs.
(I crawled around and found no bare wire, but there is a spot I have to check above the underbody heat-shield where the wire is hidden.)
2. Somehow, more fuel demand creates a load on the pump and more current than I used to get, so it blows fuses.
(Well, I went from a 30 amp fuse to a 40 amp, and it blew that one repeatedly , too. So, I've all but eliminated that silly idea. )
3. The pump is going bad and either needs a rebuild or replacement.
So, once again I'm stuck... three days before a test-n-tune night I could have taken advantage of. Oh, well.
Team ZR-1 says he'd take it to 10 ga and Kenny said that couldn't hurt. I think it's around 16 guage, but I'm gonna check.
Also, they both suggested re-checking my ground connection. Kenny says that will blow fuses too because of the increased resistance.
I don't know what the max amps it flows is... I'll check with Aeromotive.
I had a problem with that fuse blowing before. In my case it was a dead short underneath that heat shield your talking about. Somebody wasn't careful about making sure the wire didn't get crimped when they put the shield on.
Bigger wire wouldn't hurt either though.

John

Thanks! I sure hope you are right, because the wire on there (I checked when I went outside) is 12 guage already.
When the guy put the tranny in for me, he left the wire laying on my exhaust and the exhuast was misadjusted. I moved that off and readjusted the exhaust. It makes sense that when the car flexes with an extra powerful take-off that that's when it blows. It doesn't blow any other time than a takeoff with super hook-up.
Thanks. I guess I'd have found that when I replaced the wire.
Thank God for fuses, hmmm?
