Default Dyno boost?

Ok so I have a STS kit will all the goodies and I have a question about dynoing it for power. We are using a dyno and it seems that the boost is falling off in the higher RPS's I say this because well the dyno sheet shows I make less power in the 6000 range then I do in the 4000 range! now I was talking to the tuner and he was saying we should use a "loaded" dyno to see if it is really falling off or not. Would this really make a differance? does that car have to have load in order to make higher boost? the boost gauge and controller do not show the boost dropping.

What turbo are you using? Do you have any mods to the valvetrain?

I had the same issue with my dyno. There are 2 things that were contributing to mine. First, the 60-1 that I was using was too small, and it was choking. Second, my stock valvesprings were not holding up (this was the biggest thing). If the valves are floating, obviously power is going to drop off in the higher rpm range. Upgrade the valve springs, and it should help. Of course this is all assuming the tune is good.

I have the ls6 valve springs and ya I have both a mechanical boost gauge and the digital boost controller here is what I have
STS kit GT-67 turbo
LS6 valve springs
LS6 cam
LS6 oil pump and timing chain
42# fuel injectors
racetronic fuel pump
NGK tr-6
and comp push rods
methanol injection system

and yeah we do not see the boost dropping on the gauges just on the dyno. so a dyno jet will give me a more accurate reading? Im not trying to be dumb im just looking for some answers so im sorry. . :-(

Changing the dyno won't change that. What type of dyno were you on? There is probably a restriction somewhere.

The boost level does not drop on the street, but it does on the dyno. That leads me to believe that the dyno is just not loading the car enough up top and/or the boost controller is giving it fits. No there was no knock, timing was slightly ramped up after peak torque, and it was kept fairly rich for added safety. Maybe there is a leak somewhere in the lines as well.

This might of been the problem when we were all done we noticed that the left side valve cover was loose!!!!!!! the very back bolt was not on all the way. could this of been the reason for sooo many problems?

I had the same problem at 5300 rpm with only 5.5# of boost the springs couldnt keep up! Im not a exspert but the LS6 springs were border line with my stock cam at 6psi and you have a LS6 cam so maybe you need more spring pressure thats why i went with the manly. And i gained almost 200RWHP at 6000 rpm. And i only had 18,000 miles on the car

No that wouldn't be it. Maybe it is valve float, but being that it is much more pronounced on a dyno compared to the street has me thinking it is just a loading issue. But I would have to agree that the LS6 valve springs with that cam are marginal with boost. 918 springs would be much better.

LS6 springs are kind of weak for that setup. If they float it will drop boost.
