Default FI Forum Newbie

Hey Guys,

I'm new to this forum. I just ordered a ATI D-1SC Tuner kit along with a few other goodies. I was wondering if any of you ATI guys had any advice that you might want to share with me so I can safely run boost for a very long time

I'm brand spankin new to the LS1Edit tuning and FI game. So I'm a sponge and will soak up any knowledge you guys can share.

since you got the big head unit and the tuner kit, what is your fuel/tuning situation?

Tomorrow I'm gonna be ordering LS1Edit. What do ya think Dave? Have I made good choices so far? I really don't need that big of a supercharger, but I wanted to allow myself room to grow.

The scary part is I know very little about LS1Edit. I'm good with computers but learning my way through the LS1. I'm just trying not to make any expensive mistakes.

Any advice is apreciated.

I realize this is sort of a general question. But you know, I'm just getting started and looking for a few pearls of wisdom from you more experienced members that have been dealing with this stuff for quite some time. Any info, site, ink, manual, or anything like that would be helpful.

i guess the inline pump is a 255lph? i don't know much about aeromotive. you should be good for high 400's rwhp, little bit of a guess there, im not much on in line pumps, cuz they still have the sucky stock pump impeding the flow.

ls1 edit was new to all of its owners at one point.. read up on this site here and get on the ls1 edit mailing list. oh and here http://ls1edit.slowcar.net/

Yeah I've been on the LS1Edit mailing list for a few months now. I've saved a bunch of e-mails about stuff I think I may need to know later. But honestly, without seeing it in front of my face it's all greek to me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> But I've got that site bookmarked and will get into it when LS1Edit arrives. Does anyone use Edit with Windows XP?

Before LS1Edit, what did Tuners use?

i have xp and use edit.

before this you had to go have your computer tuned by fastchip.com or the like, or actually send your computer in the mail to them with an order form for what you want done to it.

I've got the same set up as you, except an intank pump where you have an inline pump. Are you planning on having the inline pump running all the time or only kick in under boost? Black LS1 TA has an aeromotive inline and I think his operates only under boost.

As for edit, it's pretty easy to pick up after you read past posts on here about it. The stock program was a pretty good starting point for my car. I dropped the timing down a few degrees in the high airflow (gms/cyl, you'll understand when you see it) part of the table. Also added 5% to the pe table.

If you don't have autotap/ease/efilive then order one of them now.

What's the difference between the intank and inline pumps? I mean just by there name I can sort of guess. But am I wasting my money n the inline? Will I need both? I didn't know fuel pumps could kick in under different conditions. I just went with the suggested Tbyrne setup.

I never had an inline on an LS1, but I had one on my old 89 Turbo TA. The bosche inline fried my walbro 307 intank pump, and I had to buy a new walbro. My car was smoking like a mother going down the track, luckily it didn't seem to create to lean a condition as nothing melted down. I was told that when the inline pump died the intank pump was trying to push fuel through it, not a good thing. I would just buy one good intank pump and be done with it.

B_Pay: Yes, that time was pre blower. Lid, Borla, and BFG's. Stock clutch checked out on that run.

Blown Hawk: There are people on her that run just the inline pump, and do it successfully. When using the inline, the stock intank still has to pump enough to supply the inline. I'm not sure the limit of the stock pump, but since that will need to be replaced for bigger power later, why not do it now? Plus, I only have one pump running. I just don't like the idea of the inline being restricted by the stock intank pump. I'm not sure how others have their inline kick in under boost.
