Default Best combo for 5.3 heads

With forged bottm ends being as inexpensive as they are now, what would be the best combo to go with for the money. I already have prc 2.5 heads and want to use them. Would a 347 fit the head better or can I go bigger with an iron block. I want to go with either a turbo or s/c but keep the a/c in the car. What works best for the most power/money. Would also like to run an n2o setup as well maybe a wetkit with propane? Looking for ideas. A forged 347 for less than 3k is unreal. It leaves money to buy the fi kit. right now car has about 440 rwhp and 420 tq. Looking for max power with air conditioning

well what you have is a dilema, you want to keep your heads, only problem is they are hi compression heds basically.

you will need to go to a heavily dished piston, I went with a 8:1 piston to acheive a 8.4ish final compression on my motor.

you prolly dont want to go that low, I am going that low since I want to run a good bit of boost on pump gas. and make a bunch of power, not what your looking for in a daily.

if you can get your comp in the mid to low 9's you will be fine for DD duty as long as you dont want to push 15psi through it

I say keep the heads, and run a deeply dished piston. That will alow more surface area on the piston, and the valves are unshrouded better on the smaller combustion chamber, if memory serves. Like said above, get the compression to near low 9's, and you should be good to go on pump gas.

is one friendlier to compression s/c or turbo? What if i went with a 402 or 408 or 370 iron block and my heads?

Personally, I would go with a turbo, because a little bit of compression can help to spool a larger turbo. That, and the boost is much easier to change witht he turbo as opposed to the supercharger. Those heads could work just fine, just make sure to run a dished piston. You may end up having to run a higher pin hieght, to sink the piston down into the bore. That will also allow you to lower the compression. Like I said, I like the idea of a smaller combustion chamber, and a dished piston. More surface area on the piston is a good thing, As long as you are not running a dome, because the dome disturbs flame travel.

displacement doesnt matter with the heads? or are you saying go with the 347 and a t70, can you keep a/c with twin turbos what would be better? From posts I've read a t70 is the biggest you can go and keep the a/c. I'm thinking that the more cubic inches the better the pre boost torque, question is, is the iron block worth the trade off in weight if going with a 370? Not sure how much power I'd loose with the compression drop to accomodate the heads.

The size of the turbo really doesn't have much to do with whether or not you can keep A/C. That has more to do with the way the turbo hot-side piping is routed. There are some kits out there that allow you to keep the A/C. Just do some searching.
