Default big cam with sc?

Hello guys, I have lurked here for several months and learned much.now I need some opinions.I have a 2000 c5 with stage 1 heads,lt headers,ls6 intake and a 227/234 comp cam ground on a 112 lsa.I have just installed a vortech s-trim.how badly is this cam going to hurt my performance? I really don't want to change the cam and lose the wicked sounding idle, not to mention that I plan to spin it 6600 or so.if I pulley the sc enough to push 5-6 psi through the engine, shouldn't it run pretty well? any opinions will be appreciated.

You will get a lot more power if you go to a smaller cam..

I went from a 230/227 .591/.571 112lsa cam to a

214/218 .540/.550 114lsa 112icl

I was told to stay under 220 duration for the least amount of overlap...

the idle is cool but power is even more cool. the split is good but bigbos is right, get duration numbers down and go with more lsa. you are going to just push everything out the exhaust. you just need a baby cam. check out the xr269-hr14 if you like comp cams. i am going to use a 218/221, 526/534, 114 piece from lunati. it is borderline but i am building a 408. btw, how much compression does that motor have? nice blower though!

The engine still has the stock compression ratio. I always want more power myself, but there are a lot of c5's out there and mine really stands out. it looks stock, but people aren't used to hearing a c5 beating the ground like a race car.I may have to change cams....but I want something with some lope to it If the current cam was on a 114lsa, I wouldn't think twice about leaving it in. I may just have to wait and see what the dyno has to say. it may be surprising. if I do change the cam, I will probably put a worked set of 6.0 heads on while I am at it.

hey blue, i don't know which cam you are talking about, but, you can get the lunati cam directly from them here http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...CC/Chevy6.html and the comp you can get from most anywhere, summit, jegs, etc. i don't know if the guy at lunati is giving me a break because i am getting the stroker kit from them but he told me something like $280 for the cam. the comp piece is about a $100 or so more.

so make it stealth. when someone pulls up next to you at a light and it is idling fairly smooth then you blow them away imagine the look? i'm with you on the sound sr, you just can't beat the sound of a good lope!! the 6.0 heads would be nice, then you could crank up the boost a bit more. i know a guy here locally that can get new 6.0 castings. he is going to get me some, port them a bit, put in some valves with isky springs for about $2800 or so and no core charge. you just can't beat that!

good point on the stealth thing. i have one too and it does scream at you idling. just tell them the power steering pump is going out! i can't tell you what your gains would be but someone here should. with the overlap letting some of the air/fuel charge out, you are losing something. energy more specifically. obviously the more fuel you can burn, the more btu's will be produced giving you more power. does that make sense to you?

Why dont you look at thunder racing web site as thay have a pretty big blower cam they have custome grinded. The cam im putting on my superchared lt1 is pretty agressive for a blower cam but it works.

I don't care for stealth....if I wanted stealth, I wouldn't be driving a vette. I prefer intimidation myself. I also wish that my sc made some noise.I have the sq head unit and it is virtually silent.it makes a very faint whistle at idle and you would miss it if you didn't know exactly what to listen for. I even comitted a vette cardinal sin and put flowmasters on the car.it gives me wood just listening to it beat the ground at 1000 rpm's.sounds as good or better than ANY mustang I have ever heard.

I just want all the power I can wring out of this stock motor and blower. I don't mind changing the cam, the hard part was the springs. With an ati there is no hope in hell of STEALTH. What do you guys think I would be gaining going with a smaller cam if anything?

WEll as I am just starting to research into the componnets for a buildup for a 383 engine on my C5, I am looking for the somewhat the same thing in having a little bit of a lope to the engine (intimadation factor), yet have a cam that will make use the air that is being forced into the heads. Anyone one ever tried a cam based on either of these specs?

218/229 .560/.560 w/ 113
or
207/220 .573/.583 w/ 117.5

I would think that the 113 cam would give the lope I am looking for. However I am a still pretty new to all of this so if I am way off, please tell me.
