I am going to use the Vortech crank pulley which uses an ATI balancer (ATI Performance) so I planning to buy an ATI pinning kit for $122 and use it unless someone has any suggestions.
That's the setup I'm going with. I think it's superior. It's the vertical pin style. ATI and Vortech also have a horizontal drill bit that can drill into both the damper hub and crank at the same time. They insert a pin horizontally.
ATI Damper hub supports a single pin vertically, but the jig kit can support drilling 2 180* vertical holes for 2 dowels if you damper has 2 squared keyways to match.
Also, the vertical pinning requires dropping the C5 rack/pinion and removing the damper. I think you can leave all of the above installed when drilling horizontal into the snout.
Everyone should pin. Most do.

After i saw my ballancer roll by me on the highway, i had Ken Keyway my crank shaft and no problems since then, his tool is highly recommened. Thanks again ken. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
I used the ATI kit to pin my crankshaft, it worked well, no problems at all. I have a few pictures of this during the install on my website.
they're at the bottom of the page.

There have been issues with my web server, it is up now seems to be stable. I'll just post the main picture, sorry for the large size. It shows the ATI fixture which slips over the crank snout. You then slip in a drill guide which is secured by a little screw in piece next to it. You then drill out the crank, alll the way to the hollow (at that point) center. After that, you change drill fittings and ream out the new hole with the provided reamer. It all worked without a hitch, I would certainly recommend this to anyone running power adder type stuff.

Coopdog,
<img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" /> haha.. One day I'll get to see your pics. I just tried to get to your site again and it's down at the moment. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
From what your describing it sounds nice.
I'm not sure what kind of dampner I have.. I know it's an ATI but I have 2 allen style set screws tapped in on either side of the Crank Snout. I drilled a small divot into the crank and then tightend the allen head set screws. These little set screws should bite into the crank just enough to help hold it in place. Doesn't sound as good as yours though!
