Default Procharger whine.....anything I can do to quiet it down a little?

Hey guys

I installed my Pro-charger and I love it. However I think that the whine is pretty loud when i'm just idling. Is there anything I can do to quiet it down a bit? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Why------If you go with SDCE tensioner setup it will help a bit, I believe. Rather pricey though and there will be some down time.

Prochargers are typically louder than a Vortech unit. Vortech has their SQ "Super Quiet" series which utilizes Helical cut gears instead of striaght cut spur gears. "All" superchargers have the whine, which cannot be avoided. Personally, I enjoy the sound of a Procharged car at idle, and of course at WOT!

In any event, I don't believe you can quiet down the Procharger much. Worst comes to worst, buy a Vortech unit.

Good luck
Andy

U serious.... i loved mine.... i wanted it way louder like a 8-71 blower........ with the SCDE setup an a FMIC mine was way louder..... if u plan on making more boost down the road then it wont be for u. The faster u spin the blower up top to build more boost the faster it will spin at idle and the louder it will be... sorry.

cant you get different gears for the blower to make it quieter?

if not, either get a vortech or Turbo.

Have you thought about using a product similiar to dynamat to make it quieter under the hood and on the firewall? Might make it easier on your own ears inside.

Garrett

PS check out www.b-quiet.com Ive heard a lot of great things about the compL.

Will the SCDE set up help at all? It does kind of sound "rattly" sometimes....not just the smooth whine.

The SDCE gets rid of the rattle, but not the whine.

The ATI blowers are fairly loud for approx the first 500 miles, until the straight cut gears are broken in. It will quiet down for you. Bob
