Wow, Borowski huh? Where's he located? I've never met or heard of another Borowski in my life? Maybe he's a long lost cousin, and can set me up cheap cheap with a new motor .

Thanks man, I just googled them.

They are advertising their 408s at levels "over 575HP NA". So I find it hard to believe someone had one built only running 380HP to the tire. Maybe they were running a factory cam, and heads as well.

They've got some pretty cool stuff on the site as well. Denali, could you share your price with me, PM maybe?

I'm going with a built 408 as well. Probably going to end up with the high flow turbo kit on there.

Maybe we can get a package boost ready 408 deal for us New Hampshire boys.

FWIW this motor was done by them two years ago. They have probably come a long way since then.

so it was the engine builders fault that it didnt make more power? who spec'd out the cam? they supplied you with 408 cubes...bolted on someone elses heads, not sure about the cam...then bolted an intake on it. so unless the thing broke, id say it was something to do with the heads/cam or the tune.

Borowski's has been in business for a LONNNNG time. Ted (who's since passed away) use to race Pro stocks way back when, and was REALLY good at building SBC/BBC's. This was before the LSx motors. Since then, another man bought Ted's shop and is branching out to get into the LSx market. I was going to have Bob (the new owner) build me a forged 346 motor (wife found other uses for the money , so I didn't pursue it anymore). As far as the 380 rwhp motor, it may or may not be the engine builders fault, because as you know, there are three sides to every story...........the builders side, the buyers side, and the truth! I'm not going to speculate, unless it was my motor. The numbers that they advertise are probably bhp, because they have an engine dyno on site, that they use to dyno/break-in your motor (if you want them too). I'd have them do a motor for me, if I had the extra dough lying around. Just my .02, and you usually get what you pay for!

my SLP 402 only made 371 at the wheels. patriot stage 3 heads, 10.7:1 compression, fast 90/90 intake - however, i went with an MTI stealth 2 cam (224/220 116lsa). went through an unlcoked converter, turbo 400 trans, steal driveshaft, and a 12 bolt w/ a posi and 33 spline axles. that combo w/ a six speed, stock driveshaft and stock '99 ls1 intake and t.b. made 417 to the wheels. i gained 3 mph in the 1/4 going to the fast, so i'm guess it would have made aruond 440 to the wheels w/ that tiny cam. it's all about the drivetrain you put it through. i'm putting in a big cam this winter though.

exactly - that's my case. budget heads, tiny cam - the tune i think was okay. it was done by speedinc. burowski's is a top notch shop - i almost had them do my heads but i went w/ patriots cuase that's all i could afford. so the power output of that certain motor being low i would HIGHLY doubt has anything to do w/ burowski.

They sent me a price for a shortblock. It was MUCH higher than any other 402/408 shortblock quote I've gotten so far. Not even close. I'm leaning toward SDPC 402 with either Texas Speed or WCCH heads as of right now.
