Default Getting My T-trim Rebuilt

We after a long battle to get my car back on the road I finally got around to putting it all together. Being safe I sent my head unit to vortech for rebuild. Ends up now that they said it doesnt pass quality control But offered to give me a deal on a new one. I said no and paid the shipping back to me. I went over it and took it apart and found were to get the bearings with the proper ABEC rating and new seals There really isnt that much to it but the bearings are expensive. $450 for the whole rebuild. Not too bad considering I almost paid $850 + or the cost of a new head unit 2K+ . SHould have my project complete by the end of the month. Hoping to hit the 700 rwhp mark and put some spray on her too Heres some pics of the internals.

Cool! That answers a lot of questions about what's actually inside my V-2. Very useful.

Hey, does the T-trim fit on the same brackets as the s-trim?

Thanks,

Jim

The S trim is the same size. The G-trim is smaller. Good luck on the project.

All done Can wait to finish the project.
And vortech said it was no good. It shimmed perfect. The bearings fit into the housing perfect. Gear lash was money

So is rebuilding one of these units easy enough ??

Any special tools required ?

I did stuff my bearings once. Vortech did repair under warranty, but said they wouldnt again ( I overtightened the belt )
It would be a lot handier if I could soruce teh parts and do it myself ( postage to and from US is expensive )

I found a person who rebuilds paxton blowers. Had some talks with him and he really knew how to set them up. So I sent it to him with the parts and he rebuilt it. Total with shipping back to me was $450. And everything used bearing wise has a higher ABEC rating than vortechs. It even comes with a 6 motnh warranty. So I couldnt complain. KOK seals are used on the pulley side and the impeller side.

No but you can kill the bearings due to setting up the tensioner wrong. Which is what caused too much wear on mine. But thats fixed now

I have an RMCR Ttrim setup also. I have been having a problem loosing boost, the car will go to 9 0r 10psi and then drop off to 3 or 4psi after about 2 seconds. At first I thought it was the bypass valve so I replaced it, then I thought maybe beltslip so I put a new Gates 80600 belt and put the tensioner on the far left pinhole(very tight). Still no change were you having a similar problem? My Ttrim is about 2 1/2 years old so maybe the bearing is shot and now I have the belt too tight?

Wow I didnt know you could over tension the thing. The AFM tensioner that I have allows you to put some nasty tension on the belt. I never had any problem with the S-Trim, and I figured the T-Trims with thier HD bearings would be better able to withstand that kind of pressure.

This was the problem from the person I got the kit from. Instead of replacing the tensioner they went to the last hole and the belt was too tight. The preload on the bearings was too much and wiped them out. Ill let you guys know how it all comes out in a few weeks. My crank is Keyed. I would check yours to make sure the bolt hasnt got loose. If it is not keyed. Oldblue I give you the info as soon as I test this one out. Just to make sure everything is ok and tested. I rather be safe and knowing the parts that were used to rebuild it are ok and not give any bad info out. I will get back with you for sure.

Here is what I do with a 2.75 pulley. NAPA sells a 25-080594 belt. It is a 1/2" shorter than the k080600 Gates and can just barely get on there. You have to take the blower pulley off and put the belt on with the pulley. I have the tensioner on the lightest of the four settings. I cannot use the two tightest settings because it changes where the tensioner hits the stop. When boosting the belt stretches and the tensioner drops down, if it does not hit the stop it will grind the belt against itself because it allows the two belts sides to hit.
