Default Procharger or Heads and Cam?

Okay guys for some odd reason this is a hard decsion for me .... I can either go with a D-1SC procharger or head and cam package... I was really leaning toward the procharger because it would benfit me later in the end .. Im only 18 so i have a tight budget and dont really feel like upgrading the drivetrain as of RIGHT NOW... but after i graduate i can.. What numbers can i see from both? all i have right now is a billet throttle body and longtubes and an offroad Y, and if it were your cars what would yall pick??? thanks

procharger, for a number of reasons:

1. way more power, still got great drivability, and gas milage
2. more potential for later on
3. you can always get a matching heads and cam later on for a lot more power
4. they are fun

if u got heads and cam first, to make anywhere near the power:

a) it wont be a driver friendly car
b) those heads/cam wont match the procharger setup 90% of the time, if u were to add a procharger...

dont get me wrong, heads and cam can make great power, but with a procharger, ur grandma could drive it to the hoedown

I too vote for the Procharger. For all the same reasons as Turbo LS1 SS

Procharger gives you more room to grow. I went ahead and added a cam with the Procharger from the start and my low-midrange is loving the cam then the Procharger takes over up top!

Not to mention boost is fun!

or you could just go National Guard in the Army, and college will be paid for, so that money, plus GI Bill and grants will be pocketed. Up to 1030 a month to your pocket plus school paid for? What more could you ask for...

Yeah... damn cars always keep you from doing what you probably should be doing. Atleast thats what the GF tells me. Oh well, I figure I better finish modding my car before I ask her to marry me and she actually has a little pull on what I do! haha

Procharger definitely for performance. The drawbacks would be that it is very easy to smoke the engine (look how many FI guys have forged blocks, and for most it's not because they just wanted one), trans. (especially an auto.), clutch and rear end (especially a stick).

Given your tight budget I would do a cam and springs and call it good. You need a pretty good size budget to do FI properly. Upgrading the drivetrain will not be an option.

Good Luck,

Mark

Procharger first, then heads/cam.
My bone stock LT1 made 450rwhp 430ft-lbs on 10psi. It was extremely driveable, and still got 20mpg on the interstate.

Well it seems that Procharger is the clear favorite here, but have you guys had any experience with Vortech's air to water cooled system, as compared to Procharger's air to air? BTW, this is for a daily driver.
