Default Question on twin rear mount.

If I made a rear mount setup with twin 60's and had them sized differently, one to come in at lower rpms and the other to take over at a given rpm and go all the way to 7k, do you think this would help reduce the lag and the problem of falling off up top? Just wondering.

That setup would be very complex.... you're better off just getting a properly sized turbo, especially with a high-displacement engine (5.7L) engine like you have.

yeah, I don't think it would be as easy as what you listed (different sized turbos). Jose will probably chime in on this one.

way to complicated and a **** load of custom work. rear mounts don't lag to much. also, if you were gonna do that..you'd be better off doing a supercharger and turbo setup.

You would have unbalanced exhaust pressure with that setup. Won't work very well at all. Only other way would be a sequential setup, but that is complex to pipe and not needed for big cube engines.

Read "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell... it will catch you up to speed on turbo setups. Best $20 I have spent on my build so far!!

I pondered the same exact thing, only I was thinking twin t61's. The only difference for me is I would be working on a 59 Apache pickup, not an fbody. In theory, Jose, would this work? Not necessarily the practicality of it, or the amount of customization.

well instead of two turbos, why not run a maggie and the big turbo????

the supercharger will give you the boost at low rpm (and spool the turbo up pretty quick) and hen when the turbo comes in you will get compound boost (hehehehehehe)!

the result is a very drivable motor that make bags of power!

just a mad english guys thoughts though!

Chris.

I'll assume that a maggie is a roots blower, although Ive been wrong to assume before. IMHO, there would be a ton more fabrication involved in this rather than a remote twins setup. I also wonder how insanely hard it would be to actually tune smomething like that.

Just running standard twins would be quite easy, but running sequentials would be a major pain to pipe and valve.
