True custom stuff can be a bitch, but when it's done and working as fine as you designed and built it, you get your payoff. I admire your work and your planning. What finish are you planning to use for the plumbing?

Will you tune this yourself?

Once again I have cut the passenger side apart. My tank should be filled tomarrow so I am gonna wait to weld eveything while bolted up to the manifolds. I wish I had some dent progress to report but I had to blow off some steam.
ya i did that to, welded it up, then when i tighten every thing down after i put it back on i found that it was slightly off and wouldnt go on (had to cut and reweld i think three times) so i just let my vband slip fit on my pipe so it would flex right.
I wouldnt say mine looks like a hack job though, just cut where you welded and it will look like you planed it that way.

I havent decided on the coating yet. This setup is a prototype of sorts. I will probably use a high temp black coating that we use at work and then wrap all the pipes with header wrap. Its not a pretty a ceramic but it works. Once i get everything set up right a fitting right. I plan to make a jig and redo it all with cleaner bends.

I do plan on tuning it myself. I have the newest HPTuners system. I dont plan on running but maybe 5 or 6lbs of boost since I am using a stone stock motor. I am hoping to retain the use of the mass air for a little while.

I was palnning to use 2 A1000 pumps when I was looking at doing the 370 and T88 at the begining of this project. I have scaled way back from that to my stock longblock and T70 hybrid 66mm. I am shooting for 500rwhp/rwtq. I think the A1000 will be fine for what I am wanting.

Well I finally ordered my Tial 44mm Waste Gate (0.6 Bar spring, 8.7psi) and 50mm Blow Off Valve. I had some unforseen down time in my build. I had to get my truck running as to have a daily driver, and i had Lasik Surgery done. I have pretty much decided to keep the Shortblock stock for now. I have a set of LQ9 heads that I may throw on it to lower the compression down into the 9.6:1 range. I want to see what I can get out of this build on a small budget. Now to go the the gas tank filled and get back to welding.

Whats up everyone? Its been a while since I have had the time to work on my car. Overtime at work has been killing me. I did how ever make some progress last nigh and today. I have torn the short block down to just the block and crank. I am going to add some stock bore Malhe -16cc dished pistons and 6.125 rods. I want to be able to turn the boost up on this car. I am also thinking of ordering a set of Dart 225cc heads to top thing off. With a .074 head gasket my compression should be around a boost friendly 8.7:1. I did get my cross over pipe done. My Tial 50mm BOV is here and I am still waiting on my Tial 44mm WG.

I am going to build the Down pipe when I get the motor and turbo in the car. I dont want to take any chances with clearance being all my pipes are staying above the k-member.

Here are some pics of what little progress I have made.

I am waiting to fit it up in the car. I have the turbo situated where the over hang is towards the motor instead of towards the radiator.

I am still waitng for the WG to arrive to see what kinda room I have with it mocked up on the engine stand. Is it a nessicity that the WG is mounted where the merge to the T4 flange is, or can i mount it on one side or the other of the feed pipes?

it can be mounted on one side if in a pinch, but it is alot better to have it in the merge, that way the exhaust gases exscape it equally.

I think I can get it mounted in the merge. It may be a tight fit though.

Well I have put my HPTuners VCM Suite up for sale. I am gonna do a BS3 setup with tranny control. I don't want to deal with the loss of resolution and really want a 3bar MAP sensor for my car. Its gonna cost about $2000 more than the HPtuners but I won't out grow this software anytime soon.

Well I sold the HPTuners VCM stuff this morning. I am definatley going to go with a Gen7 DFI or BS3. I havent decided which one yet but I will more than likely run it piggy back to the stock PCM so I can keep my gauges and such. I really want the BS3 with the tranny contol and stock gauge interface, but that is nearly $1000 more than the Gen 7 DFI. Decisions, Decisions....

I bought a plastic mock up motor today to. I cant wait to get it in the car and see how my hot parts are going to fit, or not fit. I will take some more pics as progess comes along.

Well guys its been a while. I got the mock up motor in the car. I hung the manifolds and cross over pipe. Everything fits great. I even put the turbo on it to take some progress shots.

On a side note, My Mahle -16cc pistons and 6.125 H-beam rods showed up friday. I have my head and main stud kits. I bought a Turbo Smart 48mm Pro Gate, and my BS3 software should be here monday. I am hoping my 4L80E is at the shop. I still have to get it built.

I bought it for several other reasons too. I got it cheap. Its a lot easier to lift the 13lb. mock up block into the engine bay and leave my block on the stand waiting for me to assemble than buy a junk block and have to use the hoist everytime I want to test fit something. It was worth the money I spent on it for the piece of mind I got when I saw everything fit with out having to wait until I got my engine finished.

Now onto down pipe fabrication and FMIC fitting.
