That kinda sucks after doing so well on the dyno. If its not blowing smoke out the oil fill cap like a freight train its probably nothing serious.

My car with almost stock weight and a 6 spd on et streets went 103 and 131 at 570 rwhp and 640 torque. I would expect 2 mph or so for you. It will have crankcase pressure if the tick is in the bottom end(ringland).

You didn't spin a rod bearing right? Do you know what that sounds like?

Where do you think the tick is coming from? Top of the motor?

PSJ.. i do not know what a rod bearing sounds like.

westside it sounds like the tick is coming from the top of the motor

ltlhomer.. it ran good something tore up. i dont think tune had anything to do with it.

bought an fn compression tester but not sure if that will tell me anything or not. those things are a joke. any body ever have any issues with the lifters?

I was just wondering not saying it had anything to do with the performance...sorry if it seemed otherwise.

Did you check the oil and make sure it does not have a lot of shavings in it?

Ticking can be a lot of things, like a bolt backed out of a flexplate, or a spark plug with a cracked ceramic.

You have to check stuff.

If your oil pressure warm is up and down, it could be a rod bearing.

Maybe a lifter problem? Are you getting any slop on the pushrod?

Broken ringland, lifter stuck, rocker arm bearings gone.

A bearing going out would have a metallic knock/thud that usually increases with RPM.

The airfuel was 10.9-11.0 when tuned and 18 degrees of peak timing. We kept the a/f and timing safe. Had 0 KR when tuned.

can you tell whether the noise is consistant with crank rpm? or is it more like 1/2 engine speed? if its half engine speed its in the valvetrain, crank speed its in the motor.

I have a noise in my motor that is currently scheduled for replacement. naver had any shavings in the oil, or copper stuff or anything.

I suspect my noise is a bad wrist pin. replaced the lifters, replaced the rockers, pushrods were fine, changed to 6.0l heads. new clutch. if you get it torn all the way down (heads off), and dont find anything, thats what my money is on.

be a couple of months before I finally figure out what my noise was still. BUT Ive been driving it with the noise for 6,000 miles, and racing it 3-4 times a year for the last 2 years with the noise. lol. it hasn't come unglued yet, and makes as much power as always.

not saying you should do that, but I was gonna run mine till it blew up. now that I can change the short block in my car, Im going to.

well i did a compression test, could NOT get to the back plug on the passenger side, it spand anywhere from 190-120. 190 sounds high to me but i checked it twice. all rocker arms are moving when the motor is being turned over. and yes the more it revs the faster the knocking sounds. and as far as oil pressure goes when warm it has always fluctuated more after i tapped in above the filter. had to quit for the night was getting ready to set it on fire

190 to 120? Did you let it crank about 4-5 times before taking the final reading?

They should all be within 8-10% of each other, a little less would be ideal, and the lowest reading should be no less than 10% of the highest # seen.
