Default New 1/8 mile best today

Ran a 6.15 right off the trailer so I knew it was a good day. With the new motor and poly mounts I am getting knock retard up the wazoo though. I pretty much shut the sensors off, no way with 104 unleaded and 16 degrees of timing should this thing be getting 4-6 degrees of KR @ 14psi and 9.5:1 compression. Car picked up 3mph in the 1/8 with them turned off so I doubt its detonating..

Anyhow, best pass was 6.08 @ 113.4, DA was 686' which is great around here. Car is a solid 10th quicker in the 1/8 and 1mph over similar weather last year and it was sliding around a little in 2nd gear. Honestly I could have pulled the exhaust (crappy Kooks Y-pipe and hooker intermediate pipe over the axle) or pulled the ATI inlet hat/filter and probably got in the 5's but my trans was leaking and I didnt want to drop trans fluid on the track, cant seem to find where its leaking from so I packed it up for the day. Still made seven passes, two I had to let out of it because I staged a little too crooked

Still on the 3.7 pulley, still on a 01 Z06 cam, stock pushrods, rockers, stock 98 PCM, LS6 intake, unported Dart 225s and a bit over 3300lbs today. All my good 60's were between 1.343 add 1.358 off the footbrake @ 2800 rpm. Next time out may be with some bigger injectors and the 3.4 pulley

Congrats man. When are you going to a 1/4 track again. What all did you change since last year?

Since Bowling Green changed their T&T night to Friday thats out for me so honestly I dont know when I will hit a 1/4 mile track. I may hit Jackson south carolina for a weekend maybe.

Honestly I'm pretty bored with the thing so I think I'll put the other seat in and swap my street wheels and tires on it and just cruise it for a while. Its starting to get to be a handfull to drive without someone getting me pointed straight on the line and if I need a crew guy I'll build a fast car

Anyhow, only changes are a new shortblock, dropped the compression from 10:1 to 9.5:1 or so and bolted on a set of Dart 225s as cast. Thats pretty much it.

Yea, it slows down a couple tenths on my 93 octane street tune, I run like 12 degrees of timing and fatten it up a little. The 104 is just insurance, drum lasts me a whole season at the track and is way cheaper then a new short block

Nice runs.

You really need to get to a 1/4 track to see it's full potential.

I would dave but nothing really close here except bristol and that track is as slow as it gets. Plus no slicks on t&t nights and they dont prep the track at all.

1/4 mile situation really sucks around here, its 200 miles minimum to any of the decent tracks around under 1000' elevation My only complaint about living here..

Nice runs like always Kev. You're my inspiration/motivation to get off my lazy *** and finish my install (which has begun by the way ) Once everything is installed/tuned, I will post a bunch of pics and video to share.

Good luck

Andy

Na, just reaching the 'fun' car limit, there is several things I could do to knock a couple tenths off but I really like the car as it is. It just gets to the point where you either make it a race car or keep it a fun car, on one hand its cool to go faster but on the other it is such a simple and reliable combo its really tough to change it.

If you ever get too bored you know where to drop off your setup.

Nice numbers, KP! I'd swap out that blower inlet hat, and go with an aluminum 4" elbow and a larger filter. Bob

I ran it a few times last year without the blower hat Bob, while it makes a difference in peak boost it doesnt really change the ET much. My filter is the size of an office garbage can

It would probably make a bigger difference if I was spinning the blower higher, only spinning it to like 53K..

Any idea what could be causing the KR. Could it be picking up false knock maybe from the blower or tranny/converter maybe on the shifts? It looks like you are running a 28x10.5 under the car; were they tough to get under there? The reason I ask about the tires is that I am going to order another set of 10-in Prostars and would really like to swap gears in order to use a set of 28x10.5-15 so as to get a bigger footprint. That is one good looking car you have, I really dig the videos. Thanks in advance and good luck to ya.
