Harlan, in your opinion if your running 10psi or less on a stock motor is it that much better to spend the $400 on this device vs swapping in a 2 bar map in my 98 and having fun halving tables and such to make it work with the stock pcm.

I'd say it would be better to spend the extra $400 to have the ability to run a 3bar MAP sensor and not have to worry about losing the resolutuion.

There is a catch. You still run into the limit that all the MAF guys do as far as g/s. But.... it's simple to get the Pro dialed in, then shift it's output down 50%.

The only gotcha is the advance, since the PCM see's half the air once you do that. But that's not too bad either.

The half an hour it takes to move things around with HPT so you can have real fuel control versus PE only once the MAF signal maxes is well worth it.

$400+an LC1 for real time wide band control is worth every penny IMO. Once you're close, set it and forget it

so I want to be sure before diving in.

how will I be "shifting it's output down 50%"

is that a function of the device? or tables I will tweak in hpt?

Yep, the Pro has a global "Main Scale" setting. You can basically shift the entire output of the Pro up or down.

As for HPT, you need to move your injector size, VE's, and advance.

Since Kyle's car is a "manual", i really don't know what's needed beyond that if you have a PCM controlled auto. I'm sure the half load from half the MAF input will drive the transmission nutty.

It can use either, not sure if it comes with the sensor or not.

HPT and EFI DON'T OFFER A 98 SD 2-3 bar OS AT ALL.

I have managed to run a 2 bar SD "hack" if you will....Rick@synergy hooked me up with a starter 2 bar SD tune that essentially cuts the VE table in half(half the resolution, not the cleanest but still works pretty damn good). This is something pretty much anybody with a 98 can do affordably, just buy a 2 bar map/baro sensor, replace the stock MAP sensor with it, disable the MAF, MAF SES light, and rework your ve table. This can be done with HPT or EFI live, but again HPT/EFI live don't offer this for the 98s, its something you have to do yourself.
Want to know more PM RICK@SYNERGY, he is the man

BUT the only caveat is its limited to 2 bar or 14.7psi. I probably can go past that comfortably due to my altitude.

Thank you sir, that is what i've been saying It'll work if you have EFI live or HPT. I didn't have to pay HPT for a 98 2 bar SD OS because they don't offer one.

Rick@synergy hooked me up with his know how to run 2 bar with my 98 regardless of which tuning software I have.....I tend to read from the bottom post up, so sorry for the late catch

I do know that I will be getting a MAFT pro if all works well on Kyles car. I have a 4L60E, but is Vacuum modulated....so do you know if I'll run into any issues with the MAFT pro and my vac mod tranny?

Well I have decided to go with BS3. It's a little overkill for my combo right now, but the car is not going anywhere and will see a much bigger combo in its future.

Exactly.......

As of right now 15 psi on the street with pump is stupid fast and theres no traction....... from what Matt is seeing she is consuming enough air for about 750 at the crank.
Plans were for the car to make it to the track this weekend but a few things came up and thats totally understandable. There are plans for a few pulls on the dyno for those of you that are waiting for results those pulls will be on C16 and higher boost. As of right now i dont think we are going to do any pulls or passes at the track on pump gas.

Thanks guys for all that you are doing.
Happy Easter to everyone.
