I use to pay off the kid running the inspection station, 50 bucks and about 10 minutes later I had a passing certificate. Now i'm up **** creek because the kid is now replaced with an older dude, and I'm sure he won't cooperate. I've been running around with expired tags for awhile now![EEK !!](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_eek2.gif)
My search for a cool gearhead inspector continues...

no, not cali but ny. they require a visual and obd2 plug in. its hard to pay anyone off now because they barcode the inspection sticker to your registration. it all leaves a nasty fast trail back to the inspection station. the old "buy the sticker" is hard to come buy now. looks like sts or ati here i come!

What about those clamshells? If you had one on your car is it enough to fool the visual? Just wondered and didnt find much on it on the site. I was thinking maybe you could have one real and one fake or two fakes??

Im in Wi and all they do is the gas cap test and plus into you're onboard to check for any thrown codes... I didnt even have cats.. but my SES light was burned out from the previous owner.. so I had a ppo 442 small evap leak... and I failed.. so I called my buddy at a dealership he brought his scanner over.. cleared the code and brought it in the next day.. Pass

so many decisions, choices, and not much money!! ya, thats probally the way ill go is hollowed out cats. but a single turbo with that large crossover pipe is a hard item to hide imo. so its twin turbo(pricey unless i can figure a way to do it mostly myself-im all confused when it come to the oiling), ati charger(its proven to be a reliable setup up to x amount of hp-650rwhp before belt issus?), or an (sts still new so unsure). this winter id like to get a forged shortblock from spdc. stay stock cubes or go 402 aluminum.
i got alot more research to do but i wonder what a forged block, stock crank, 9.1 compression, ported 6.0l heads zo6 or mti stealth cam can put down and hold on the street? and if going fi are the bigger cubes necessary?
or stay 346 and spin that hoe!!!!!! lol

Pick the right shop for the inspection!
I was worried about getting my STS inspected...as the freakin turbo is RIGHT NEXT TO the inspection sticker tag. Go into the shop, next thing I know every mechanic there is under my car checking the turbo out. They seemed impressed seeing a V8 with a turbo on the "wrong side" of the car. I was charged $20 for my $12 inspection
and not a peep was mentioned about "emissions legality" or "factory stock". All I got was multiple compliments and a shiny new inspection sticker.

Speak to a Tuner in your area and inquire about inspection etc. They may be able to take it to one of "their" guys and and get it through. However, it may cost a little more than your usual inspection fee's. Good Luck
