Default Temps too hot on turbo setup

Hey guys the install is officially finished. But 1 small snag is that the car is getting too hot IMO. The aerotech scan gauge that i have is saying coolant temps are getting in the 220's.Ive got dual 12" FAL pusher fans a 160* stat etc. Any tips on something i can do to make it cooler?I just bought a 12" puller fan to put behind the radiator to hopefully help.Anyone have any suggestions?thanks Nick

You may have checked this already, but the first thing to do is check to make sure the pusher fans actually are pushing the cooler outside air through the radiator i.e. they're not wired backwards and pulling the hot engine compartment air through the radiator.

Since you're in Florida, you can run distilled water and some Redline Water Wetter with little to no antifreeze.

It's given me a Minimum of 20 degree temp drop, and the hot rod and Mercedes both dropped 25 degrees.

If that doesn't work you may need a larger aluminum radiator.

Do you have the air dams in place? Mine gets pretty hot too just cruising around and I'm going to get some turbo heat shields and try putting a stock-type air dam setup back in to direct air up into the radiator. At idle in the driveway it doesn't seem to heat up but at low cruising speeds it starts cooking...up over 210.

Throw more fuel at it at idle/low speed stuff. Maybe some more timing. All of that has an effect.

I am going to do some experimenting once I get my car to work right at wot first!

Get your HPT/EFIlive, Fire it up go into the editor adjust BOTH of your fans to come on at 168 deg's.

Also wire both fans so when one comes on both come on. I have the stock harness controlling both fans.

Don't have HPT/EFIlive...then get one of em..
If you have done both of these steps disregard.

at idle it makes no sense why its getting that hot,but when we test drove it we didnt have the air dam so that should hopefully help when thats back on.would a turbo shield really help?

Get HPT, you can do this stuff yourself...makes its a ton better than running to the tuner all the time.

IMHO, a tuning suite is pretty much mandatory if you are going to start modding your car, especially if you are going FI.

ya,ive been toying around with the idea especially since 98's can now go 2 bar.but i though itd be a smart idea to take it to someone who knows what theyre doing for such a big buildup as this, and then tinker with little stuff to get my feet wet little by little til im more comfortable

No air dam will make a HUGE difference on our cars. Its the only way the radiator gets air.

ahhh... how are you bleeding the cooling system? Ive never had luck doing it the book way. Ive always just left the cap off until the t-stat opens and keep filling.
