I thinking about returning my spal extreme for a refund instead of the 4th fan in exchange. And buying the set up posted in a link above for 399.00

But I just wanted to know if this set up fit on the D1SC first. Also do u have the 16 inch fan set to push air towards the motor and the nine inch to pull air away from it? Or are they both going in the same direction??

Thanks,

Crystal
Crystal, as Bob stated the dlandsvZ28 mod will fit w/ a D1. D1 is same physical size as a P1. Just use a low profile 9" puller, part numbers listed earlier in the thread. Probably the curved blade is what you want. I tried the 16" Spal Extreme route too and I also burnt out the fan and couldn't run the a/c much even when the fan worked. I put my ATI 16" back in, and then sent my 16" Spal back and asked for the 9" instead because that's really what I needed. I think this route is cheaper than the SDCE $399 set-up and I think that set-up might also use the 16" Extreme fan which we've all discovered isn't gonna work on a street car. You want both fans pulling air from the front of the car through the radiator, toward the engine. Good luck. It might not work if you're idling or in stop & go traffic for an extended period of time in the Miami summer heat w/ the a/c on...but if you are rolling 40mph I bet it will work like a charm! Let us know how it goes!

I was told to get this Spal part # 30102120
http://www.spal-usa.com/fans/automat.../2120-2047.pdf

the Jegs part number for it is 134-75001

Supposedly this would be better for my aplication than the extreme.

I believe this is the one i have burn three of their fans that run
3140 CFM @ 27.0 amps

Thanks, but that one can't be any better than the stock ATI fan is it?

How did you get your Extreme fan replaced? Through Spal? Or the Store?

Hey, thats my home town!!

Hottest place short of Phoenix, if it can make there you're set.

The Dual 11" spals and an aluminum radiator were the only thing that could keep my 79 Vette cool in El Paso.

It's in the text...they're Spal fans.

Improve radiator fan efficiency on your supercharged LS1 with virtually no clearance issues!!

Our low profile dual fan shrouds are manufactured from quality aluminum with a natural finish and fit on your stock LS1 radiator in the stock location. Utilizing the biggest, most powerful Spal fans we could fit, these fan shrouds maximize airflow through the entire core of the radiator.
Our fan shroud also works great for any performance LS1 that may be "space challenged" in front of the engine.

I doubt it's the Spal 16inch Extreme. They would have to get a huge discount from Spal to sell the two fans (one being the Extreme) and the shroud for $399.

It's probably this model number that only puts out about 2300 cfm (and half the price of the Extreme) and probably comparable in cfm to the 16 inch that ATI supplies with their kit. It's unlikely SDCE would display the straight blade fan with their kit when the Extreme comes with a curved blade.

http://etxiow.accpaconline.com/itemd...&item=30102120

I have the Extreme. I just noticed that the lifetime hours for the Extreme is a third of the hours compared to the cheaper model above (2-3 thousand hours compared to 9-10 thousand hours).

Has anyone thought of using a big electric fan off another productin car? My buddy a mustang guy (i know, poor guy) ran a lincoln mark 8 electric fan on his car and they were supposed to be good for over 5000 CFM and are becoming plentiful in junkyards. Not sure on dimensions but that or another stock fan on a car may be an option. Seems the factory can make a fan last 100K+ miles, why cant the aftermarket? I thought we were suppose dto be buying higher quality parts then stock?

Actually just started doing some research and that mark 8 fan is a monster apparently! over 5000 CFM on high but draws over 40 amps constantly, and pulls about 100 amps as it starts. Heres a link i found doing a quick internet search. I gues crown vic police fans are as good as the mark 8 on its low setting. And god knows theres crown vics all over the junkyards.
http://www.f150online.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54683

Found another link with a TON on info on it. Its an 18" fan and kinda big, does anyone know if theres a way to fit it? 22"W x 18.5"H x 6.25"D Seems the late 80s/early90s mustang guys are getting em to work with superchargers and a lil work on the shroud.

You can run all the fans you want (I run 3 fans-ATI 16 incher, Spal 9 incher, Spal 12 incher pusher on the a/c condensor). However, the issue that will arise will be the alternator not being able to keep up. Thats my situation. So now i am upgrading to a 200 amp alternator. The dreaded domino effect...

Man.....they werent kidding when they said power = engine issues. Its all i ever heard guys complain about on the "scene" when I was a teenager with my first street car. They weren't kidding. But its nice to be faster than almost every one i know hehehe

This is what I got from SPAL:

As for use on the street as long as it is not on for more then 45 minutes at a time it should be fine. If you do run it take long allow it to cool down a little.
