David's list is interesting, I'd like to take a cut at it:

Turbo(s): Single $1000 (more for twins)
Wastegate(s): $300 or more
Blowoff: $350
Hot Side: $2000
Cold Sides: $1000
Couplers, clamps, fittings: $300
Oil lines, scavenge pumps etc: $200
Intercooler(s): $1000
Fuel pump upgrade: $500
Injectors: $500
Tuning: $500
Boost Controller: $500
= $7800

Maybe my $ for hot sides is too high, but coated truck manifolds will run like $400, and custom headers will be $1000-1500. AND you have to factor in the cost of the materials.

And other variables are:
HPT 2 bar conversion (and/or aftermarket pcm software)
Fuel pressure regulator
Air filter(s)

I don't see anyway that someone can make 550-700rwhp without spending at least $7,000 assuming you are NOT building the kit yourself.

Now, if I were spec'ing a budget kit, goal of 500rwhp or so, I'd probably be able to knock at least $1000 off my $7000 number, by getting an OBX intercooler and running truck mani's. I can't say lower because you'd still need miscellaneous like an alternator relocation bracket, and maybe a custom tensioner.

A few things I think PSJ is off on

Charge piping should not cost that much, and my full size griffon shipped didn't even cost a full $1000.

Also - a boost controller is not required, not a electronic one anyway. My car still runs spring pressure because im too busy upgrading other things.

I voted $6-7K for a complete kit. Including fuel injectors and a boost-a-pump, no boost controller.

For a nice front mount that has decent ground clearance, wont be limited to 500 rwhp due to manifolds, wont be a bitch to install, and includes some fuel parts, i would pay 6-7k

That's funny.

None of them are easy to install, not turbos anyway... well, not any forced induction system. Easy isn't a term that computes. I wish I could tell you what I've run into with this Incon kit, but it's moving along with roadblocks at every turn. ~Joshua

I didnt say it had to be an easy install Just not a kit that will end up making me throw the turbo threw my windshield.

With the price of the injectors and gauges, tune, & misc I should have about $8,500 in the kit when it's fully installed in a couple days.

I think this kit's quality makes it worth every penny. ~Joshua
See now thats worth it.
PJS if someone would make a kit like this, it would be worth 10g's IMO.

with a good tune that kit can be trouble free for 100,000mi.
good uo to 800rw
I paid 6 for mine 2 years ago.

$7000 with fuel system, and base tune, for a "MANUFACTURED" turbo kit, with OEM type hardware.

no offense to all of the fabricated turbo kits, but unless somebody offers a 100,000 mile warranty against cracking, I won't even consider purchasing one.

maybe I should go ahead and try to complete a kit with the incon manifolds I have laying around...

Want to sell those Incon mani's, I could see about getting them reproduced on a mass scale.

No, sell them to me. My brother and I make our own lead fishing weights, I'm sure we could make some new manifolds while we're at it.

I don't really want to sell them, but I would be willing to work with somebody if they are going to try to get these reproduced, they're sitting in a box, and probably won't be installed for 6-12+ months, so I won't miss them if they are being copied.

I posted $7k to $8k, but that is in mass production. Can't understand why anyone would want to jump into the turbo business for a car that is no longer produced Seems like a fairly limited business venture. One of kits would certainly be $10k+ is done correctly.
