Yup, definately auto if that is your use.

I was as torn as you were on this decision, I now think 6spd + turbo is a bad combo, funny how perceptions change with some experience.

Think of it this way, whats more fun, playing with your stick or winning? While we all know how much fun it is to play with our sticks it's just that, playing, it doesn't really count. When you win it counts, you get a much greater satisfaction. We all know that doing it ourselves isn't as fun as when it's done for us, so the auto wins!

if you suck at launching and shifting then maybe an auto is for you

i personally like to think me being in the car as opposed to anyone with at least one foot has something to do with how well it runs.

It'd go faster with an auto. You know that!

So I now have a few decisions to make. I talked to several companies and if I go manual I will be getting it rebuilt with t56rebuilds.com. Hands down. I'll have what I need for $5500 out the door. Warranty for a year. BUT getting an automatic would be cheaper.. But this is a street car. Daily driven. EVERY damn day! I would take a hit on gas mileage. And I LOVE my manual!! I really would prefer a manual. This car will be primarily street raced. But all the big money street races are from a dig.. Which is where the auto will benefit a bit. I know most of the BIG power guys run autos.. Whatcha guys think? Very few on a t-56.. Which makes me want to stick with a manual even more. One of the few. One of the proud.
Make that two of the proud and few

I love my Glide.... Id say give carl Rossler a call and see what he thinks for your setup.

BTW a TH210 is a TH400!!!!!!! it just has a 2.10 1st gear.

Its called going against the system, being a rebel.

Im the same way. If I wanted a consistant drag car, auto would have gone in without second thinking it.

But, I figure if I want a chance at keeping up, all I have to do is throw my slicks on, smoke the tires, and let me 2 step do all the work.

My car was built for enjoyment and the occasional race here and there.

As far as clutches are concerned, I had my twin disk from mcleod blow up after only 2k miles, but after 8 months or so of having the car (only really driving it for 3-4 months) it blew up and they warrantied it without any cost except for shipping.

Clutches should last at least 10-15k miles or so under the kind of abuse we put it under (granted you dont launch on it every chance you get).

So if you get a mcleod for example, and worst case scenario you have to have it rebuilt every year, thats only 300 bucks worst case...

My tranny has held up wonderfully so far, no issues at all.

Thats my input and im stickin to it.

The only problem that i discovered with a 4L80 is that u cannot get it in reverse manual valve body. And forward is annoying as u have to ratchet from p-r-n-4-3-2-1 to get movin. And if u have to do a k-turn u get to do that a few times in a row id go insane lol. So i got a TH400 and prolyl gettin a GVOD to make up forhte lack of over drive. GL man

It all comes down to what you want. A fun car to drive and be able to shift gears and maybe lose some races to to teh fact that you have a stick. Or do you want to be just stricly fast and not care if the fun factor of shfting gears is gone.

The fun factor of shifting gears is gone when you're trying to put 1000+ horsepower to the ground, dealing with the chassis loading and unloading, and being scared you're going to scatter third gear and take apart your ankles if the trans lets go. Drive a very high powered car with a standard, then come tell us how it is.

And anyone who gives the gas mileage argument for staying with a standard is feeding you bullshit. If you have the money to spend on a 1000 RWHP capable motor and turbo setup, and can spend 2000 dollars extra on a standard over an automatic, who gives a **** how much you spend on gas. Why don't you go with a stick, and I'm sure the 2 dollars a day you save in gas might make the investment worthwhile in about 4 years when you get your money back from it

I would say it's pretty awesome. The 800-1000rwhp cars I've driven and rode in have all been perfectly streetable.

The gas mileage is an added bonus, I'm glad my car was knocking down 20mpg going to north carolina and back, not only for the savings in money but also for more range between fuel stops.

And cruising at say 1500rpm, is a lot nicer than 3000rpm for example.
