I don't have a high HP car like some of you but I love my Manual. When you hit perfect shifts all the way there is nothing as satisfying.........except a SNICKERS!

It all depends on what you want. For drag racing - auto all the way. For the street, as long as the tranny and clutch can handle the power there is nothing that compares to a manual for the fun factor in my opinion.

for me, driving an auto is very boring. but i also realize that racing against an auto from a dig is stupid. but i love to get on the highway and do a 40 roll in the top of 2nd in my M6...... nothing's more exciting. I'm still on a stock clutch and it doesnt like my car too much but it's still there. i know of another STS camaro running around here and he makes slightly less power than me and he's been through a couple of race slutches already...... you just have to know the clutch and where it can be used. i love my manual..... just me

I DEFINETLY prefer the M6 for street use. It's the cause of my crappy 60' times at the track, but on the street it's much more fun to drive.

Lots of negatives on replacing clutches multiple times. I put in a Textralia OZ700. I've beaten the crap outta that thing. Ridden the clutch, dropped the clutch from 5K at the track on drag radials, etc. I checked it a few months ago while installing ARP bolts in the flywheel/ pressure plate. Still looked new, after 4K miles of this treatment.

Didn't mean to get on a tangent....just stating that for $$ you can get a reliable clutch for a high HP manual.

If you prefer driving a stick stay with the stick. stick or no stick if you have that much power your biggest problem is traction not the difference between auto or stick. I wouldnt give up my M6 for an auto. in my opinion if it was a "dragrace" only car sure go auto its easier and more consistant. but to say one is faster then the other is relative. like someone else mentioned there are too many variables. so you simply need to way out the pros and cons and then make a decision and stick to your guns, just my opinion. ~Guy PS: theres more to cars then "dragracing" you got cruising, autocross, road race, drifting, etc. for a daily driver "I" would want to be able to do more then just dragrace more consistantly. again just my opinion not trying to start any heated off topic arguements.

Well.. I started this thread and I haven't posted in it in a while... I've read all the posts and kept up with it. I have decided to go with a TH400.. For many various reasons. The main guy who talked me into it was Sean(LTLHOMER).. several months ago. And I held off looking for a good buy on a TH400.. Well now I am getting Sean's(LTLHOMER) TH400 and accessories. The irony. SO hopefully I can carry on the dynasty!

Man I have had Autos but love a stick in these cars. I have a stick in my setup the only thing I regret is can't build boost out of dig but build big cub motor too and don't worry about it.

Man this decision is tearing me up. With my car if you launch hard enough you either break your tranny or rearend-there are no bullet proof pieces that get the job done. Then it's the clutch-i've had great luck so far with my Ram HD that i don't want to touch it! But facts are facts-at 645 rear wheel the best I have managed is a 10.60@133@3440lbs. That kind of power should be good for 10.0's@139mph. Fact is I drve my car everywhere-on the way to work i like to get a cup of coffee in the morns-this wil only be easier with a auto. Sticks are fun but breaking parts suck-plus from a roll or dig on the street auto's will kill a stick. Hell when i had a stock 98 z28 with a SY3600 I was beating much faster cars on the street. People talk top end-but really when do you get a chance to try to blast out at 200mph on the highway. The way they hand out licences i'm afraid to pass anyone!

I still push the clutch peddle to start my car, I just don't use it when I pull back on the ratchet shifter and smile. Not one single regret.

hello everyone.... i have a 97 camaro witha pt88, soon to be a ytk88. i have had an auto and now im back to a clutch. i agree the auto is better in a all drag race intended car. but it sucked to drive on the street, 3000 plus rpms, way loader exhaust, and way hotter temps. and in fact it hit the tires to hard and spun at 100mph+. now just this summer i put a t56 back in it and it is a blast! in fact most of my racing is on the street from a slow roll, and the car hooks crazy,"with nitto's", and the turbo is maxed out at 24psi and a 100hp shot too. thats arround 1100 at the wheels. this winter i do plan on spending money on the t56 to safely handle the power and to go to the track once in a while. so i say unless your all about get that # at the track, go stick.
