Default Twin Turbo Size?

hey guys,

I've been sort of just reading everything and not posting too much.

It seems like most guys who are runing single turbos are going with GT70 or GT76?

What are they using for TT setups?

If i'm wrong with someone, let me know

thanks guys

Twin 60-1's or Twin 61's is what I have used and are perfect for a street car.

I made 751 RWHP @ 14 PSI on 93 octane with the Turbonetics 60-1 Hi-Fi's.

I am now running PT61's(GT35) and am dabbling with 18 psi. I am guessing 800+ RWHP on 93 octane.

i'm looking to make my own turbo headers, and will probably just order the mandrel bend kit from summit, it comes with
10 - 180 degree bends
4 - 120 degree bends
4 - 90 degree bends

how many of these kits do you think I will need to make a set of turbo headers?

hell for the whole thing lol

The 12 u-bends should just about cover everything unless you screww a couple up, or you have a drastically different design.

For 3" downpipes I used 4 ubends, and 4 45's to get to my exhisting exhaust.

I'm guessing PT61's are Precision turbos?

and that the Garrett equivalent is the GT35?

You are correct. I used 3.5" aluminum tube from the intercooler to the throttle body.

cool, could you email me all your photos? --my email is above

I'm curious how you merged the 2 turbos into the intercooler. Was that steel or aluminum pipe?

Should I consider going with a larger turbo? i see all these guys on here using GT70's!! but i'm guessing the lag is pretty bad.

I used all aluminum for the cold side. I made a 2 into 1 merge collector going into the intercooler.

How much power do you want to make???

800-1000wrhp?

Solid 800wrhp for sure

I'm not so great at welding aluminum, maybe I could do stainless on the cold side. Or just keep using ceramic coated steel?

can I still talk you into emailing me some pictures? I'm just in "aw" of your setup!

Thanks!! You can easily make about 900-1000 rwhp with a set of P-61's. The spool real fast too!

hi matt,

Tom Nelson uses twin 72 mm´s for his smallblocks, thats from 350-427. nelsonracingengines.com
summit is ofcourse a good place to get parts, they also have flanges.
But if you want better quality, then try bursn out.
Good luck with your kit, it´s not that difficult, and much more rewarding to drive your own setup. Just make sure to get big enough injectors, like 82 pounds for 1100 hp, and a huge intercooler. Ball bearing turbo´s if you can afford. Stainless for the cold side is fine, it looks good too.
