4L60e behind a turbo motor???
Is anyone running a 4L60e behind their turbo car?
Even though I'm gonna be pushing sort of big HP numbers (650rw) I'm not building a drag car anymore. I'm going for the pro-touring effect with my 67 Chevelle. I almost want to go with a 5 or 6 speed manual trans but the cost is a big factor. I have a good 4L60 that was originally behind the stock LS1 I have. Would this hold up if I did a rebuild and upgraded a few parts?
It may occasionally see some good blasts but for sure not all the time. Mainly gonna be a driver for car shows, cruises and family outings
thanks

Do a search over at CF and see how many of those boosted guys are successfully running RPM 4L60E's. Rodney at RPM has had great success with his 4L60E's.
If your not going to be beating on it all the time I bet the right builder can get the 60E to live in your car.

Ya good luck finding a 80 for sale. I used alot of my connections to get a core for under $700. The problem is that there is the $750 core charge on top of the 1500+ you spend on the tranny alone. Lucky I found one with a manual valve body installed and I will manually lock it up with a push button mounted to my console and the B&M shifter. Good luck.

Im in the same boat. Looking to make 500-600 rwhp and already have a 60E. I am going to upgrade the 3-4 clutches, beast reaction shell and run it for a while until it blows. In the meantime, save some coin for a 80E and convertor. You can find used 80E's on car-part.com for around 700 with low mileage. Then all you would have to do is put in a shift kit and go.

You can spend the money on a built 4l60e with a warranty and spend your life changing out trannies every 2 months or do it right the first time and buy an 80. Its a lot less hassle going with the 80!

My friend Dave aka Caveman on here has a Century built tranny 4l60e and that sucker has lasted and he was running that car every week. his blower engine was making 650 rear wheel and it was holding up just fine.

Candlebandit had a Rock-On 4L60E...... then his converter turned loose and took out the tranny with it (on his 130th 10.XX pass down the track). God only knows how many street miles he had on it. Honestly, I think you would be fine with a nicely built 4L60E.

I could I guess since I have a sweet TH400 already. My rear is a 12 bolt w/4.10 posi right now. It would be easier to swap gears and carrier. 3.08 is the lowest I can go in the 12 bolt. RPM's at 65 would be 2450 w/28" tire and 2300 w/30" tire
