Default Sts Oil In Exhaust And Intake ?????

ok guys going on 3 weeks still havent found the problem. some how i am getting oil coming out the exhaust and into the intake side all the way back up to my throttle body it has already fried one maf becasue it was covered in oil. i took all the pipes back off the car cleaned them all out.cleaned maf with electrical cleaner. put it all back together and car runs like crap, not even driveable. i have called and talked to sts they gave me a check list of things to look for. i have done all the checks, pressure switches, good, check valve on turbo oil supply line, good, made sure pump is kicking into high speed, good, made sure turbo is clocked properly 12 oil supply 6 oil return to pump. oil return line laying as flat as possible running under car, no step inclines to climb, no pinched return line. everything checks out good. i have since unplugged the maf so i can drive the car back and forth to work, only 5 miles away. but even just driving normal not boosting it. i am still getting oil in the intake sideand still coming out the exhaust side. i have also checked to make sure its not the engine itself leaking oil like a bad ring or something like that. i pulled y-pipe down, no sign of oil. oh and its not the air filter because i have been making test drives with the filter off. have i covered everthing or is there still something i need to check. i am completley confused and totally fustrated. anyone please help.

I had/have the same problem, eventually swallowed enough oil to cause massive detonation and it came apart. Keep us posted!

Have you visually verified that oil is being pumped back into the engine from the return line?

There are quite a few posts on this subject. If its not excessive, I would look to the check valve first. If its bad, it will allow oil to drip into the turbo when the car is not running. When enough oil gets into the turbo, it will get into the charge pipe too.
If you cant find the previous thread and posts about how to check, give me a call.

yes i have verified that the oil is coming back to the engine. i have also done the check valve test. i started the car with the oil line disconneted from the turbo just to get oil pumping threw the line . turned the car off cleaned the end of the check valve and i let it sit over night. i had one little drip of oil. so i would have to say check valve is good.

You may have a bad turbo, they can be rebuilt for a reasonable price.

It does sounds like it could be the turbo itself. If the turbo oil return pump is indeed working correctly, and the oil is able to freely flow back to the engine, then it must be the seals in the turbo. Bob

well according to STS there are no seals in the turbo... they told me that 99.7% of the time it is NOT the turbo that it must be something eletrical.

Check the turbo for yourself... Grab the compressor wheel and see if you can move it laterally (forward and back).. You should not have any movement at all this way.. Then move the wheel horizontally (up and down).. You should have a little bit of movement here, but not enough to let the wheels hit the housings..

You need an oil restrictor at the turbo. If you have a true GT turbo they have piston ring type seals.

i checked the play in the turbo. it doesnt move anyway up, down in or out.

Public- what do mean a restrictor. do you think there is to much oil going to the turbo and it cant get out fast enough... if so i kinda thought of that but didnt really know what to do about. i didnt want to not supply the turbo with enough oil.

We run such a high oil pressure that it sometimes blows the seals out of the turbo. Hence the need for a restrictor in the oil supply line.

country boy what do you suggest as a resistor for the oil supply line. and that wont affect the oiling of the turbo.

I have a gt42-101 and use an 0.080" restrictor, I have a -5 line to the turbo and lots of oil still gets through, about 1.5 - 2.0 litres/min. If your turbo is smaller or a ballbearing turbo, you can probably get away with a smaller restrictor. Can anyone else chime in on restrictors used on his turbo.

I was told by Jose to start at a .060. I bought a Function7 piece that has a built in restrictor into the -4 nipple so I didnt have to rig one up.

Well i finally found the problem about a 2 weeks ago. just wanted to drive it for awhile to make sure problem was cured. it didnt look like it, thats way i over looked it. my oil return line was getting pinched between the trans and the brace. it was fine at idle thats why i was getting good flow. but i guess when i was getting on it and the tq from the enigine and trans was piching it between the trans and the brace. after removing the return hoes i saw that it was really getting pinched. so problem solved!
thanks again for all your guys help
