Default Turbo LT1...maybe.

i cant freakin beleive i am pondering this but here is the deal...

my buddy can help me custom fab most of the tubing...
i can get a t4 hybrid off ebay for a few hundered..unless there is a better turbo for that much...
buddy can get me a fuel pump for 110$
i can get a set of used upgraded injectors..
im sure i need a blow off valve of some sort
as well as a oil pump or something to pump oil to the turbo....
wastegate

i can sell...
borla cat back
lt4 hotcam
dual spring alum heads
trickflow chromoly rods
comp 1.6 rr

..would like to sell the cam stuff as a set if possible...

what other good turbos are their for cheap??...

what else besides the mods i have and the other stuff i listed would i need to successfully run like 6-8psi?? i already have tr6 plugs...

I'm thinkin i can do a decent budget build, by doing piping myself.

what do you guys think?? lt1 w/ headers and turbo..can i get a solid 100hp outta the turbo or more?? yes i will get her tuned.

i need opinions on this. alot of tech stuff i need to know. mainly where to get a quailty turbo for cheap...does not need to be the best ever made or anything.

i still dont know if i wanna cam and heads then spray....or ditch the muscle car sound go custom turbo at 6-8psi...

or cam and heads now...then save my *** off for a while and then go turbo..........then id be saving for a while and going with a 12 bolt lol.

Nothing about forced induction is cheap, and you have not done enough research to start a project like this.

On a side not, if you would like a LT1 hot pipe turbo kit with a T3 turbine flange, 3in vband downpipe, 2.5in compressor outlet I have one that I'm not using right now.

What are you going to do for tuning and such?

You won't need a oil pump to get oil to the turbo, there is a plug in the back drivers side of the block (up on the top behind the intake manifold) where you can put a 1/8npt fitting in and get pressurized oil there, and we returned oil to the pan with a -10 fitting welded on. If you get the turbo too low where it won't gravity drain then you will end up needing a pump to assist with oil return.

there are plenty of things about forced induction that are cheap, the results however are not.

went cheap and blew the engine. fixed the problem, but now I am building a engine built for boost, so the set up I had is to small for the hp I plan to hit, so now I am going big. hence the reason we have one not being used now.

I need to get some pics of it in the car, and then take it out and get a few more.

correct.

im not saying cheap....but here...

turbos on ebay run like 500ish...
i can get a upgraded fuel pump for 110$....
used injectors....
cheap to do the piping cuz it would be custom...

if i can get it all done for like 1k give or take that would work well.....

i know i have not done enough research, thats why i am here and not buying parts already.

my main turn off is losing that throaty sound.

doing it all for 1K would be pretty tough...imo cutting too many conrners.

I think the rear mounted turbos need oil scavenging pumps.
No intercooler?
Did you factor in tunning?

What about the cost of your oil feed lines, return lines & scavange pump, check valves, crankcase breather, wastegate, blowoff valve, cupplers, welding & cutting equipment (unless you already own and know how to operate that), flanges, tuning, etc.

Do not start a project like this with $1000 or you will not finish it. And do not get a real cheap turbo unless you want to buy another turbo right after you get your car running and have to take it apart again to replace the turbo. Also you should not skimp on the intercooler if you can help it, its $200-$250 well spent, infact there is another post on this page about someone selling a used obx which would fit your needs.

I'm not just saying this stuff to try and turn you off to forced induction, I just want people to know what they are getting into so they don't get into a project they can't afford to finish (Like what happened to me) and have their car sit down for a extended period of time.

lol
my car did not drive at all for about 4 years and it sucked bad

the thing can just do way too much dmg to the car if you don't do it right
I say do it right the first time (or much closer to right) and save money in the end.

For a cheap turbo maybe try a junkyard instead of ebay

I think i got 1K in wastegates and the blow off valve alone
