Default Stock..Sts...yes??

Hey guys,

I'm sure you get alot of ignorant questions such as this, but it's better to ask first then to find out the hard way. . . .I was wondering If it's a bad idea to get an sts kit and just run it at 5-6 psi if I just get the proper fuel injectors and better fuel pump/tune. I don't go to the track, because the closest one is hours away and I don't have a trailer, nor do I plan driving such a distance. My biggest worry is the stock 10 bolt, but I really don't drive my car all that hard and I can't think of the last time I launched it from a stop light. If anything, I pick it up a little bit on the highway but thats it....mainly due to the fact that I don't want to risk other peoples lives going crazy speed limits down roads other people use other then myself.
I'm sure by now you are wondering why I would want to get a turbo.....because I LOVE THEM, they sound sweet and I have always wanted a kit since day one I bought the car. It may be a rediculous reason, but thats just the thing, why not? and YES I know for a fact I will not go past my goals of only sticking to 5-6 psi.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance....

Keeping it at 5-6psi will I have major traction issues? I can see adding better tires, but would other stuff like Torque arms cause the 10 bolt to

not sure about the tq arm...i am 295's out back...

with 5-6psi you might not have huge traction issues...off the line you are going to but not other than that.

call billy at trt and see what he recomends...o and you are gonna need a clutch

with 46k id say you should be ok on stock clutch but I would go ahead and put money aside just in case. It seems you dont push the car much.

O wow a new clutch eh? I have a 2002, doesn't that come with the Z06 clutch? the 2002 Z06 had 405 hp and seemed to hold fine. At 5psi stock, sts claims the ls1 will put out 411....hopefully I will be ok, never changed a clutch before

46k is pretty much just broken in now-a-days 5-6psi will be fine and you shouldn't have any problems with your stock rear just running on the street. Street tires will usually break lose if you hammer it to hard. That's good for the 10 bolt! You can bolt a TA cover on if you have any concerns with that. Added insurance.

dont forget a vette and fbod are two diff animals weight wise. The zo6 clutch will see that much more stress from the heavier T/A. Also, the vette made 405 at the flywheel. 415 to the wheels is another big difference. The 02 clutch should work ok just keep an eye on it and leave a little leeway in the budget.

Well i pretty much have the same question.. But im on a 2001 formula A4... I get on it quite a bit but i really want the turbo kit... if i could get this turbo kit and leave everything stock except the fuel and tune.. I would have money to put in to the auto to get it up to par and the money to get a 12 bolt if needed... But if i could get the kit and drive around for awhile i would really like too... I heard the turbo kits are a bit better on the Autos because it allows the turbo to spool up better then manuals.. but will my stock auto be able to handle the 5-6 psi...

Check into the ls7 swap. Stock feel but holds good power. I usually recommend over spec due to their hit or miss tendency.

On the note of the A4, you should be fine with 5psi. Just be careful boosting in overdrive
