Default worth it to reduce exhaust to 2.5"?

well right now i have 3" exhaust from the headers back, would it be worth it to spend the money reducing the exhaust to 2.5 in order for my turbo to spool faster? this is with an sts system btw. or would it not be worth it. i need to do something about it anyway, because its too loud and i just got a ticket for loud exhaust...

no reducing the size does not help. Keep the heat in, have it ceramic coated for best results, or paint, wrap and paint again.

I wouldn't bother with the exhaust between the engine and the turbo.

If you have to do something about the noise, I found that a borla xr-1 oval fits nicely.
You can keep the elbow coming off the turbo, just cut it off a few inches after the elbow, slide the muffler on, take the part you have left and cut it to the right length to make a tailpipe, slide it on. Couple of stainless band clamps to hold it together and you're good to go. It's still loud, but it takes a lot of the edge out of it...

if you want it to spool faster I also recommend ceramic coating your exhaust.. worked great on my turbo car... (350hp 1989 chrysler lebaron convertible.. the ultimate sleeper)

well now i have to fix the whole thing anyway. its all scraped up and i have to ditch my cats, so the whole thing is getting replaced regardless. i think i'm gonna just go with smaller pipes. i was planning on wrapping the exhaust anyway, no matter what size i went with.

The bigger pipe should contain more heat, which is what you want.
