Default Magnuson F-body dyno results

Here is a dyno graph from my '98 Camaro with the Magnuson kit installed.

The peak numbers were a little dissappointing, but the tourque curve is exactly what I expected from this kit. The car drives smooth as silk untill you get into it, then it becoms a monster, just like you would expect from a good F/I car.

Take a look at the graph, and let me know what you guys think, remember, this is only 5psi, non intercooled, so the production intercooled kits should be closer to 500RWHP.

I'd like to thank Jesse at Wait4Me Performance, and Phil at Dynotech Engineering for all of their help tuning this combination.

Instant torque! Right at the hit it jumps close to 400ft-lbs. You'll hit 11's with that much torque/hp under the curve if you hook it.

Add an IC and crank the boost up and it should be a 10 second ride with stock manners.

That is just awesome... so is this all on a stock ls1? What mods are done to the car? And would the I/C'd 500 be on a stock ls1 as well? Man this kit is just going to be amazing. I cant wait to see a video and hear this beast!

Also, I've been meaning to ask you on the phone. But what exactly is involved in lowering the subframe like you mentioned in the last post? Is this difficult to do? Think with a superhawk outlaw hood I could just cut out of the bottom of the hood for about an extra inch or 2 of clearance?

Sorry for all the questions.

Cant wait to see what the IC'd systems will do

Ed, does this setup have the 78mm t-body inlet, or the 90mm?

Very nice numbers for only 5psi.

That A/F is a little lean for my tastes though. How much timing?

Ed are there going to be different blower offerings for this kit? Arent there different sizes of blowers that are avalable from eaton that are essentially the same dimensions/bolt patters

what do you think the max hp out of this combination would be?
thanks

Probably not much in terms of peak numbers... It is a Roots style blower that doesn't reach the height of the roof, after all.

This dyno is the car in my sig, which is why I was a little dissappointed. This car has heads & cam, so I was expecting 30-40 more hp. But, it is an A/T, which is costing a little power. I didn't dyno it stock, so I don't have a good baseline.

To answer a couple questions:

This blower has the 78mm snout & TB.
the A/F ratio is just about perfect for a supercharged engine, it's only running 18 deg timing
I could easily add a meth injection kit to this car and run a couple more pounds of boost, which would get me closer to 500 RWHP
The production kits will all be intercooled, with a 90 MM snout, so they will make a considerable amount more power.

These blower kits are intended for the guy that has a stock, or close to stock F-body, and is looking for a maintenence free way to add 100hp/100ft lbs. Stoplight to stoplight, this thing is very hard to keep up with as it is, so 2 PSI ore would just be better!

Keep the comments coming, I know the numbers look small, but they are not indicative of how this car feels to drive.

Here's a link to another thread that shows some pics, and offers more details of the install:

Well, after driving it all weekend, and abusing it as much as possible I must say, it's performing very well! I have had the luxury of driving some pretty strong cars, and this one shows the same characteristics. It has plenty of power on tap, yet drives like a stocker. The slightest application of throttle pins you back, and if you go full throttle, it will start to haze the tires in the upper RPM of 1st & 2nd gear!! ( I do need to put some stickier tires on it)

Hopefully the weather will hold out here for a couple more days, so I can run it at the track on Weds test & tune night. I will try to get a country road video this week so people can see how this things runs/sounds.

Does this mean we'll be able to go out and buy a kit for the FBody? I've been wanting one forever and have cash in hand. If it's not going to come out just let me know and I'll go with something else.

How long until the kits are available, I would like to put one on my Thirdgen LS1 car. Only differnece in my car should be the mounting of the intercooler and i dont have to cut anything from my car.

is this with the 112 blower? Im not sure if its the same series of mag-blowers but have you given any thought about the "new" 122 series blower? Also, a 90mm TB would get those peak numbers to climb a bit.

Should feel nice a linear with BB chevy torque off idle... congrates man. I have been following your build and it seems as it wasn't easy. Alot of bruised, sliced knuckles along the way i guess. Way to stick to your guns!!

i hear you on the 122 blower. Although 7 psi and meth on a 6speed with a mild cam should get you close to 550 rwhp and equal tq with the 112. 03-04 Cobras are making 525-550 maxed out with the same blower with a table top torque curve. I will def be purchasing one in the spring.
