Default What to expect from a T-trim Upgrade?

Hey, I just got 501rwhp/470rwt from my healthy-breathing 383 with a V-2 SQ S-trim, running at a max of 7.2# of boost after the FMIC and throttle. I'm going to upgrade the head unit to a V-2 SQ T-trim. Any ideas what I can expect for power after the upgrade? I'm all forged and have plenty of headroom in my fuel system, so I expect to be able to crank up the boost a bit to 10-12# or maybe even higher.

Also, any idea of the market value of a used V-2 SQ S-trim with <6K miles on it?

Thanks,

Jim

Went from 520 to 650 G trim to T trim with a 2.95 pulley. Have a 2.75 but I want to lay down some new numbers with the 4l80 now and go from there. The 2.95 pulley showed 11 psi. So Im expecting 13 to 14 psi with the 2.75 and my tensioner set on the third hole instead of the second to control belt slip.

My buddy made 690/590 with t-trim at 15-16psi on a 355 LT1 AFR heads and hydraulic roller.

JM, thought you were going turbo??? I don't see it in your sig anymore

Btw, it looks like RMCR has sent out the remainder of the parts I need for my install. I'll be bolting up the T-Trim soon as well

BTW, my 383 was running these numbers through a Hughes built 4L80E and a Hughes 2800-rated lockup converter.

Thanks for the other info everyone.

JMBLOWNWS6, those are great numbers, that thing must be a rocket...

I am waiting on a few things. I really want to see what my car will do with this setup before I part with it. But yes a P*K kit is going on the car. No doubt about it! Also the person that was going to buy it kinda backed out for now and Im not going to take this bitch off untill I have the turbo kit. Tired of my car being down Because I can have the turbo kit on the same day as I take this off Then its a matter of adding a 3 bar map, versafueler and bigger injectors and its all up to HP tuners to go the rest of the way

JMBLOWNWS6,

Are you running a Raptor or instead something local?

Has it been reliable for you? What was done to it?

What fluid are you running... anything else you can think of.

Thanks,

Jim

Im not supre what a raptor is bro?

You mean the T trim kit? Yea no problems and every time the belt slipped I just moved in down a hole on the tensioner. Fuild as oil? Mobil regular 10-40w for breakin. My last forged engine bit the dust. But thru this install I found out that the oil pump didnt look so good. And it was very ruff. But it had oil pressure still so its still a mystery to me

Caveman made 650 unlocked with his T trim and I think he was only pushing around 10-11 lbs. His has a fully built 382 all bore with AFR heads, 230/236 cam.

If I can find a used T trim kit I'd slap it on my car in a heartbeat.

I'm wondering about what pulley size to go with on the T-trim. I know that NAVY's sig says he's making 12psi with a 2.85" pulley, AFR 225's, and 1-7/8" headers, not sure what size engine he's running. JMBLOWNWS6 is at 11psi with a 2.95" pulley and 346 (?). 2001WS6Vert is at 11psi with a 2.75" on a 418. All of these numbers seem to be in order and should give you a good idea of what to expect. I guess you could always figure ~20-30hp per psi of boost.

Right now the one on the blower I bought is a 2.75", I know that is the smallest RMCR recommends because the max impeller speed is less than the G-trim. Luckily when I bought my car it came with a couple of larger pulleys. I'm afraid that 2.75" on the T-trim will scatter my little 346

hey bro I wouldn't do it without having a built bottom end first. on a 3.12 pulley Caveman was making 10 lbs.

T trim on a stock bottom end will be ticking time bomb.

I agree with Stevie Turbo go with a YSi if you can. I wanna throw one on my car with spray.

That's what I expect anyways. Curious to see how long it will hold up. I only drive the car a few thousand miles during the summer anyway.

I like the idea of the YSi but not the noise. I'm planning to get the SQ version of the T-trim.

Isn't the noise the 2nd best part of running a sc? (Best thing being the added power). If you want quiet, go turbo.....sorry, just ragging on ya

10 lbs of boost from a T trim will surely be too much. Get a shortblock over the winter they're cheap enough.
