Default limits of P600B?

According to Procharger's website, the P600B has a rev limit of 65,000 RPM and 24psi if I remember correctly. I know cubic inches, exhaust, cam, heads, etc. etc. have a big impact on boost. What I'm wondering is will a P600B be able to flow enough CFM to make good boost on an LT1 383? This will be in my Impala, so the cam and heads won't be too radical in such a heavy car. (cam I'm thinking along the lines of comp's 224/236. heads are a full port and polish, but stock size on the valves.) I have heard some say that it just doesn't flow enough to make a lot of boost on a built 383. I'm thinking of just putting whatever size pulley on it that will spin it to its redline of 65,000 and hope for the best. What kind of boost do you think I'll have? I'm hoping somewhere in the 12-15 psi area and around 500 RWHP. If it won't flow enough, I may upgrade to a bigger head unit.

No, you won't make any decent amount of boost with the P600B on a 383. You will want the D-1SC kit. Bob

Def the D1. I have a P1 which is one up from the P600 and it's hurting right now trying to feed my 383

Yea, I'm thinking of going with the D1SC. It really won't be that expensive. I'll use my same intercooler and piping, but just get a different mounting bracket (I think the bolt patter is different on the P600 than the D1) and a new head unit.

I'll go against the grain and say you'll be ok with the p600b. You say your goal is around 500rwhp - the p600b is definitely capable of that. It won't make 12-15 #'s, but that kind of boost is in 600+ rwhp territory.

I can only get 7.2# of boost out of a Vortech S-trim on my built 383 (non-LSx). Cam is similar - it's a small solid roller at 230/236. I think you won't get more than 6# with the small 600B on that motor.

When I had the P600 on my 355 the most boost I could get was about 11psi and almost 500RWHP. There was one smaller pulley to spin it a little faster but, at risk of exploding the blower.
I believe you can reach 500rwhp but, will probably only make 8 - 9 psi of boost max. If you don't already have the blower definately go for the D1.

You could hit 500 on that setup. We just did a 96 Impala with a 355ci and 600b which made 540rwhp through an unlocked converter---pump gas.

I already have the P600 on my stock engine. I think I'll just go with the smallest pulley I can run and spin it near redline. Then, if I don't get enough power and boost, I'll step up to the D1.

Slowhawk what was the specs (heads, Cam) on that Impala. Pretty good numbers. I'm doing a 383, Ported AFR heads, D1SC to 61571 Blower RPM with a 224/230 .570 .578 on a 114 hoping to get 650+ RWHP through a 4L80E with a small 3200 converter. I am thinking about a N-chiller spray bar and shoot C02 onto my FMIC since I don't have to tune around that itself (like meth and nitrous)
