Default Boweryboy's Turbo Corvette IRS Sets a C5 IRS Best-8.60@163.95[VIDEO]

Hi all,

I am new to this forum but was encouraged by a few members to share some details of my car and my recent accomplishment with this forum.

First the accomplishment and then a little about my project.

Saturday, I took another step towards catching up to this cars potential. We learned a lot off of last time outs testing and we tweeked a few things based on that data. I also was a little more confident and was anxious to get back behind the wheel.

My first pass was a easy (no boost off the line) and I ran a 9.00@163 with a 1.85 60', The next pass I launched on about 4 psi and got a 1.389 60' but spun on my 1 to 2 shift.

On the 3rd pass we adjusted the tire pressue and I built about 5psi on the line and it launched nicely with a 1.38 60'. I was able to peddle through a little trouble again at the top of 1st but stayed in it all the way to the end putting down a 8.60 @ 163.95!

I think that may be the quickest and fastest anyine has run in a IRS C5 Corvette.

Here is the video:

Video of Boweryboy's C5 Corvette IRS Best - 8.60 @ 163.95 w/ 1.38 60'

Now for the details of the car - here is a brief run down of the project:

First and Foremost, I have to give a lot of thanks to The Vette Doctors for making this car happen! Dennis as always built a killer LS2! Joey and team spent over 500 hours building this beast. Joey's knowledge of the C5 is unreal! He single handedly wired the whole car and fabricated and assembled every modification inside and out. He is incredible! As for Carmen, he handled everything! He was the brains behind the project and brought American Racing Headers and Turbo People to the project to help build this great car.

Carmen worked with Nick and Jose from American Racing Headers to build a custom header set up, complete exhaust system, all the turbo plumbing and a ton of misc welding and fabrication! The workmanship that comes out of that shop is second to none! Trust me, if you do not have American Racing headers on your C5 or C6 you are leaving power on the table, Period!

Carmen also worked with Turbo People and their incredible knowledge of World Class Turbo Race Cars. For those of you that do not know them, they have some of the country's fastest and successful outlaw and drag radial cars! Joby is one of a kind. His knowledge of turbo equipment, tuning, suspension and in general drag racing is tremendous!

Again, I can not leave out Paul Major (Major Spray). He has blazed a new trail in Corvette Drag Racing and has helped me out tremendously! Having friends like Paul and Angelo who have an incredible drive and tenacity for drag racing is a huge plus and an incredible pleasure!

Hi all,

It is a new 16x9 codec so this will work:

Try openning Windows Media Player. Selecting Tools/Options and click on the player tab. Pick check codecs once a day and check the download codecs automatically and save. Try to run the video again.

This should help.

It stands for Independent Rear Suspension.

No Straight Axle 10 or 12 bolt.

Awesome times, especially with it being a IRS vette.

Love the plate on your vette " IMCURED "

I bet the Doctor's bill was not cheap to cure your illness

I fixed the link for you. You had an extra punctuation mark that was fouling up the link. Nice pass! Congrats!
