I could be wrong, but I wouldnt know where to look.

There was a small area where you can see to the flywheel without moving anything, but i guess it was too small to tell what was happening.
Just pull the trans out. It not that big of a deal. It's either the motor or the trans so in either case the trans will have to come out.

Ya thats what I figured, so might as well save on labor costs and pull the tranny myself.

its getting the ******* twin disk lined up correctly so the splines go in smoothly that i have trouble with.

Even with the allignment tool I guess I couldnt get it right last time, lol.

Good news is, last night we drained the oil. Nothing in the oil, looked clean and smooth.

I have a switch on the car that kills ignition, so we had the car up on the jacks and i tried cranking it (without it actually starting) and there was a smaller noise coming from the bell housing, and when we crank it over it sounds like something is hitting in the same spot.

I was up till 3 last night so I didnt have the energy to start pulling the tranny and clutch but that should happen this week and I'll get pics posted of the damage.

Im assuming it must be the clutch since the only noise I heard came from the bell housing.

Edit: and no, no blow sheild, just normal bell housing.
I know of an s10 that made harsh noises like that and it was a spring or something like that in the disc that came apart.

It might try to run with the clutch disengauged. If you can manually hit the switch.

You DO have a blow shield on it, right??
I was the person driving the car. It was walking back and forth from left to right @ around 120-130.
Alan, I let the clutch out completely and wasn't hard on the breaks at all until the car died, THEN I stood on them ******* LOL.
Now, when we tried firing it up again, the battery had LOW voltage and wouldn't crank without a jump. It honestly sounded like the alternator taking a **** when it did finally start, it ran smooth and then made that horrible squeeling noise and killed itself. Almost as if it couldn't hold a charge.

I don't know i've heard alot of blown motors and none of em sounded like that. I'm sure its a tranny/clutch issue. Good luck.

As much as I hate having to take away from the look of being totally stock.. Even I'd get all that stuff... a cage and shield would be #1 on my list together.

If you puked another clutch, get ready to do it again... and again... and again. A nice TH400 would fix all these clutch\transmission issues and make the car even more fun to drive.

I heard some of the materials on the Mcleods don't require a scatter shield. I guess it just breaks up turning to dust and doesnt pierce the bell. Sort of like a CF driveshaft, don't need a DS loop.

Ide be pulling that starter too... I had one go when I still had the 305 in my TA... Was on it hard, and Im not sure what happened but the starter drive gear touched the fly wheel and caused a horror show. Starter motor drive was bent...so the starter would still sort of spin, but made noise similar to your vid. Messed up the flywheel as well. Took out some teeth, and gave it a nice bend.

With your dead battery was it possible that the vibes from 120mph caused something electrical to go screwy? Maybe even partially engaging the starter?

But my guesses were either that or the clutch went crazy and came apart for whatever reason. Good luck figuring it out!! Dont give up on her yet!!
