Default maf with FI???

i know its been discussed many times before but i just want a final answer so i can make up my mind as to what i want to do... is it pointless to use a maf when going with lets say 15+PSI of boost? am i better off with speed density? would a diffent maf make a difference like maybe an LPE 100mm maf?

In my opinion, once you are talking about a combination that will max out the MAF sensor before redline, speed density is the best option.

Id like to know as well, this is something I haven't even thought of yet. I got a d-1 with the knowledge I'd boost the hell outta it eventually, and eventually is almost here.

ya now at what point does the maf max out?
would a bigger maf not max out as easily or is the size just for restriction purposes like to be less restrictive on the intake side?

and i too would like to know what lingenfelter uses on his tt 427 vettes as im having a 427 built for boost and soon will start on my tt system.

SD = Speed Density

I would be interested in knowing what the maximum you can go with MAF before your max'd out ?

The maf maxes around 640 engine HP or around 550 rwhp...which is close to a stage 2 LPE car so all is good.

The LPE 100mm maf only helps some hertz issues on LS2's and an inlet restriction on high hp cars that insist on using a maxed maf. I ran a stock screened factory maf to 700rwhp, but it was maxed at 3400rpm....had to use rpm vs PE tuning above 3400rpm...not the best way to tune , but it worked....I'm playing with SD now and agree with INTMD8.

now would it be possible to tune using the maf up to the point in RPM where it maxes out and record that tune and then tune with SD and enter the recorded "maf tune" so it will be more precise? or am i going about this all wrong?

ok so now what happens when the maf gets maxed out? does the pcm go into SD mode? is this bad for the motor? can the car still be tuned well even if the maf gets maxed out?

You have to be careful and KNOW when the maf maxes so you can tune RPM vs PE to get the proper A/F ratio. Or you go Boom.
