Default 2-Step Rev Limiter

Can anyone recommend a good 2-step rev limiter that will work with a LS1 based car? Specifically a 2000 C5.

TIA,
Keith

Someone cure my ignorance. Explain exactly how a two-step rev limiter works. The basic idea is easy to figure out based on context but what are the details of how it works?

My understanding is that it cuts out half of the cylinders. If that is the case why doesn't it load up those cylinders and also foul out the plugs?

I have a 2step thru my BS3.

It's the same theory behind a regular rev limiter but at a lower rpm... Then when the switch is turned off the engine flashes to regular setting...

I believe it's suppose to alternate between the fired and unfired cylinders.

It drops the spark to various cylinders, then on the next cycle, these plugs are fired again to prevent fuel from loading up in the cylinder to prevent backfires or roughness.

How bad would that be on cats since non ignated air/fuel is being pushed out the exhaust ports? If the 2-step is set at 3200 RPMs, then half the cylinders are not firing......

it takes about 2 seconds at WOT on the 2 step at 5800 to send molten catalyst out the exhaust tips.

You should NEVER use one on anything with CATS still installed.

Give them a call, it gets pretty busy there. Their 2 step is a real nice piece and worth looking into.
