Default Max Boost to Max MAF or PCM

I want to do FI on my '02 TA, but I want to know high of boost could I run on this car before I max out the MAF or MAP sensors. I have HP Tuner for the tuning portion, but I don't want to do the SD tuning on this car. I know there are a few of you out there that has maxed out their sensors, I would like to hear from them. BTW, I do have an SLP 85mm MAF available too, would that help.

It' going to vary for each setup and it's important to remember that boost is just a messure of the restriction of the air flow, not actual airflow which is what the MAF/PCM limit is all about.

It's probably safe to say it will happen between 15-17lbs on most stock PCM/MAF combos.

@8lbs and almost 500 hp my MAF is maxed out. I have heard that there are ways to tune around that but I have no idea what all is involved.

Vague memories of one or two cars hitting at 15lbs from some other posts over the last few years. Then I pegged mine beyond all cheating and tweak this fall at 17lbs on my TTi race kit.

So I thought it would be best to offer a range so someone doesn't count their chickens before they're hatched.

That's a high range... I was knocking on the MAF ceiling around 9-11 psi it seemed with a WAY WAY conservative tune...

I should point out that my pegging the MAF/PCM limits is after every scaling trick in the book.

So I'm assuming that people are trying their best to stretch the computer limits of 511 grams/sec using those tricks. In my efforts with my tuner's help we managed to get it to 17lbs and we would peg the MAF at 4800-5000 rpms at that level. At 16lbs the car was fine.

I remembering reading about guys that use the MAFT-Pro to ditch the MAF sensor completely and the MAFT-Pro to the PCM to adjust fuel and spark from a wideband oxygen sensor. How does this affect daily driving and fuel economy. I know that I won't what the car was rated for, but I don't want a hugh impact with cruising on the highway or light throttle accelerations.

Yes, NA$TY is running the MAFT-PRO to cover the lack of tuning sources for his 98 PCM that can handle a 3-bar SD tune. It's going to be a powerful tool for a lot of setups that don't need to step up to a full BS3 solution.

Like any other tuning tool, you can dial in your dailly cruising as lean as you want to in order to maintain fuel economy. The trade off is how safe do you want to be as you transition to WOT? It's not the best idea in the world to go from a lean spot into a high demand fuel situation in WOT.

I guess for me running like up to 10psi with a T-76 won't be too much of a problem then.
