Default M6=more fun than auto?

I am in the middle of a turbo build/conversion and I was wondering if I should swap back to my six speed. I still have it and it works good, but I will have to modify the hydraulics. I like the auto with the nitrous b/c I never run a window switch. I know that I will want to do some roll races when I get the turbo setup complete and that is why I am asking about this.

Manual is always more fun, unless you have so much power that you can't keep up with the tach

I say go with the 6 speed unless its going to be a drag only car.

Auto + turbo = more fun than 6spd... unless one of your favorite hobbies is replacing clutches. Change your rear gears to something like 3.0s or even 2.75's like I have and it will be a highway monster, mine is.

I think it really depends on your personal preference. I think a th400 would be a blast to drive, great from all points pretty much, but I like my M6

I would go with a 6 speed and a mcleod twin. In fact, I am. It's very very much personal preference and I prefer to row my own.

Plus it's nice getting near stock gas mileage in a X00hp car.

Manual: If you're wanting to roll race and have a highway car. You could add a two-step if you're wating to drag race, but you'd definately have to upgrade your rear, clutch, axles, tires etc...

Auto: If you're wanting to do a lot of races from a dig and drag race. Loading the converter and launching in boost is nice. I imagine thats why they made the GN's all autos...

Or an OD auto trans

A rolling brake torque in an auto versus a roll on with a manual is night and day. Tough on brakes, but having 10+ psi from the start makes highway races fun.

Having had both manual and auto, you don't need a 6 speed to race bikes. Hell, they lose the advantage about 140 anyway. Air drag is a bitch

I have alot more fun driving my 6-speed car on the street and the track. (compared to an auto). It's all personal preference. Someone who can't drive a high hp manual trans car well may prefer an auto just because of that.

had i known in the beginning of this build that i could have a built th350 installed for what i spent on upgrading the m6 (including clutch), i would've gone auto from the get-go. although it is a blast to drive around town w/ the standard and i haven't had a chance to try the 2-step yet. i'll give my final decision in a few weeks when the track is open again.

I'm guessing you are talking about the bikes. My camaro never seemed to be to gifted at 140+. It is lower now than the last time it saw speeds like that.

Im with Harlan.... Why do you need a M6 to Race Bikes???
There is no need to take it to 140MPH if you have them beat before you even see 90mph.......
If im in 1st @ 45-60mph im already in boost as soon as i hit it.....
Man it pisses them off.....

Why is that? I've never heard of a 9 inch being limited to a 3.50 gear ratio before? I personally don't like 3.50 gears with an A3 for the street, too many RPMs. I had that setup and changed to the 2.75's for way better street manners. I also use to be 6spd and don't miss it, the th400 is much more fun, especially at the track.

As for roll racing, the auto owns, espeically against bikes. It's cool to watch them drop back further every time they upshift.
