Default turbonetics t76 vs gt42

hey whats up guys i have an oppurtunity to buy a new turbonetics t76 Q trim .96 ar or a gt42 with t6 flange 1.22 ar. my question is which one should i go for im leaning towards the turbonetics but im not reallly sure about their quality. my engine will be a stock cube 347 with 7.8-8.0 to 1 CR forged the pistons and rods with arp bolts and main studs and 317 heads. wanting to make between 750 and 900 hp not wanting to rev the engine to high want to keep max rpm around 6500 maybe 7k. This is a mainly a street car so i don't want too much lag not sure how much of a difference it will be from .96 ar to 1.22ar oh ya and i got a 3500 stall

get the turbonetics T76 it will act more like you want, the 1.22 AR will be to big for you.
also turbonetics has a pretty good warrenty from what i understand.

The T76 Q-trim will spool quicker than the GT42, but be limited to much less power because of excessive exhaust pressure. Lots of people here lately have been using the T76GTQ or Q-trim on 350+ cid engines and not reaching their power goals due to exhaust pressure. I think the record for a 76mm turbo was a regal running in the 8's at almost 160 mph using a GT42r similar to the one you're thinking about. The 76GTQ won't touch that. Another alternate is the T76GTS. It's somewhere in between the 2, but probably closer to the GT42 in terms of power capability. Guys have been in the 8's with the GTS also.

You're probably going to say that you have no desire to run in the 8's, so the Q-trim is fine, but lots of people on this board are regretting it and kicking themselves for deciding to use the Q-trim.

just to clarify that gt42 is a 76mm turbo it just has a T6 exhuast housing.

and another thing the vehicle this will be going into will only wieght 2600 pounds

what do you think the max hp will be on the Q trim turbo the guy thats selling it is telling me 1000hp

oh and as far as 8's that would be awesome wouldn't mind running that at all and i think it might be possible with my weight being that low

The most I've seen on a Q trim from ~350 cid is ~650 rwhp, versus 1000 from the GTS. Not sure about the GT42-76 T6, but I imagine it will go over 1000 rwhp. Also, I believe you can get a T4 GT42-76.

A T70 P trim has made more than that on 346ci LS1 (700rwhp @ 14psi on sts setup)... dont see why a T76 Q trim wouldnt kill that. I understand your stating what you have seen... and that your not stating that 650rwhp is the max.

I've seen a .81 a/r 76 P-trim go 10.20 @ 133 in a 3600lb car. I don't know what the equates to in dyno number, but i'm guessing pretty good.

Some 6-speed cars dyno really well but dont mph very well. I'm betting the 700 rwhp T70 P trim car doesn't go faster than my 146 mph with only 695 rwhp.

The 76 P trim car that ran 133 mph at 3600 lb is making about 650 - 670 fwhp.

The trend looks like all the P trim and Q trim cars are pulling 130 - 133 mph with the very best ones going 136 mph (for instance, RyanK and 02SS). The GTS cars are going 144 - 153 mph with the best ones at 158. Let me know if you guys have data indicating otherwise.

Ryank actually put down 653rwhp/738rwtq thru an auto witha T76 P trim ON center housing I believe and trapped 138mph. I believe he was at 15psi as well, but hopefully he will chime in.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lsx-parts-sale/609614-tti-t-76-street-kit-turbo-system.html

Purevil layed down 700rwhp on the dyno with an STS T70 setup and M6 tranny.

I just think not enouh people have hada properly setup system with a t76 Q tirm...

We have had a few customer with ~350 V8's trapping 135-144, using GTQ's and MPS's.

The SST units will make some STUPID power. Also Jose can have them made with the new GT-M specs. They will make more power then the 76GTS's indeed.

The SST is on the right.

yeah the gts version was my first choice but people were selling these other ones. i guess the Q trim t76 is on one end of the spectrum and the gt42 with T6 housing is on the other lol, meaning im back to where i started. But i was wondering one thing how is the difference is spool time going from a gt42 .96 AR to 1.22 AR, im thinking to make power with the T6 flanged Gt42 i would have to spin my motor to some insane rpm level which im not looking to do i plan on keeping this motor in one peice for a while. which sucks becuase i can get a real good price on that GT42 right now but in the end would you guys advise i waitto find a T76gts.

oh and if anyone has a t76gts for sale hit me up

Most vendors have them on sale right now for $1250 - $1300. I paid $1500 for mine a couple of years ago.
