Default Next step above 76GTS

What would be the next step up in turbo's above a 76gts for a T4 flange? This would be for a built 346 with 317 heads, turbo cam etc.

Primarily still a street car but at least 100 passes a year at the strip

oh and it needs to be physically almost the same size as the 76

76 is good for that size motor why would you want to go bigger?

80 would be next... or a 76 t6 flange.. or a s76

I am not sure that I will just thinking ahead, maybe going to a 370, I am also trying to learn too about the various sizes etc.

Are the S stuff T6 flanges?

Yea they are.. they're awesome units..

76 would be perfect for a 370 or 346.. I think you can upgrade wheels on the 76 to 80.. not 100 % tho..

maybe someone will chime in on that..

Go with a GT-M from T-netics. They are a bit pricey but awesome pieces and use a T4 flange.

BTW, the S-series turbos are T6, but they will make crazy amounts of power and are pretty much indestructible.

the s series are mid framed.. and from what Dr. Turbo has told me.. they are the same size as a gt42

theres a thread in here that tells the spool of the s-series but i hear they spool quicker in comparision to smaller turbos

the largest t4 (and the only step up imo) is the pte-88 and it is larger all over than a 76

the compressor section is the same size as a 76gts, but the bearing section and exhaust housing is a little bigger.

i'm running a T76GTS on my 383 w/ absolutely no probs right now. i was told that when i decided to upgrade, the only thing else that would fit was an 80mm of some sort.

Yea, forcedinductions.com sells an 80 mm compressor upgrade for the 76GTS. However, as he told me, if you're not doing 150 mph in the quarter, then you haven't reached the limit of the 76 yet.

The PT88 is a possible next step, but most folks don't want the extra lag that comes with a TV unit.
