Powder coating a procharger? Can it take it?

Default Powder coating a procharger? Can it take it?

Can the head unit withstand the 375 degrees for 30-40 minutes ? At the very least I can do the turbine housing....but I'd really like to do the gearbox as well...mine is a bit of an eyesore.

On a side note.........I had some of my ducting and blower inlet hat powder coated. After a while the oil (what little weeped form the blower) caused discoloration-peeling problems with the powder coating.

I would not have thought this would have happened, unless there was a problem with the powder coat application.

"Andereck " would be the one to ask on this. I am sure he will chime in.

I believe that a lot of people get their turbos powder coated and they expel a lot more heat than a procharger...I don't see why it wouldn't take it as long as it was a completely clean surface so the powder coat could stick to it...

Yes, the transmission can handle the heat...in theory. I can't in any way recommend that you disassemble the blower to do it however. ATI could probably disassemble it for you and ship you the parts back to be coated and then reassemble after it was done. You would need to talk to James Eckard at ATI for a quote on the work. Masking of the various parts would be key to success as you can't have any powder coat on any critical surface where the parts mate or screw together.

I remember there was a Silver Camaro in GMHTP a couple of years ago that had an F3R which was powder coated purple... That answers your question but like Anderick said who knows how much labor it would be just to make sure it was done right...
