Default STS Dyno!

Well I finally got my car going and got it dynoed today. At 5 p.s.i. I made 396 rwhp and 456 rwtq. This is on a bone stock car (except ls6 intake and ported tb). I was told by the tuner those were good numbers for a stock car on 5 p.s.i. Just figured I would throw it out there and see what you guys thought

Thanks,
Jimmy

NICE, how come you didn't tune for 6 or 7psi? Always heard those were safe numbers for a stock engine as well.

Hell I was actually happy with 5, I just really didn't wanna push it. I wanted it to be safe and not have to put a new motor in her. Already spent alot of money. Alls I have to do is go back there and turn the *** im set up for it just don't know what kinda power she will actually be making. Im pretty sure I can **** some people off with what I got already!!! There is room from inprovement if need be. Just a turn away.

6 or 7 PSI will generate too much heat wit hthe STS unless using a FMIC or Meth Injection.

Your numbers are good for a stock car. Especially the torque #

I have methanol on the car right now. Just no need in it for 5 p.s.i.

I would have pimped out the 7+psi IMO...the meth kit is good up to 10 or so... Not too bad of numbers though...off from what STS claims at 5psi but then again, each car is different. I can't wait to see what mine will make on Tuesday!!

Hell I didn't even know it was safe to throw a turbo on there without an IC in the first place...learn something new everyday!

those are some decent #'s, get your self a FMIC and throw the meth on top and go for 9-10 psi, you will make some crazy power. and i love your tq by the way..... nice

Dont need an intercooler only because the sts has a long piping to the front which does decent with 5 psi..

Do you have a graph.. Top numbers dont say much imo.. If your looking for good track numbers you need good numbers under the curve as well and make sure you boost is coming in at a good rpm....

What are you plans for the car.. 1/8 , 1/4 track or street racing ect.. You have any time goals?

I would be careful with that **** in the back.. It can get you into trouble.. Do you have a wideband or any scanning software? If not I probably wouldnt mess with that much..
If he didnt get you dyno numbers for above 5psi then I dont see how he tuned it for that... You know what I mean.. You said you want to keep the motor so be careful.. Its always good to tune in your meth and 7lbs because we all seem to have this issue of wanting faster
Reason being once you race a stock car with a 100 shot... Its probably not going to be pretty.

I would also say if your wanting to keep your motor 9-10 is a bit much for the stocker. She may not take that a long long time.

Not trying to be negative here just giving you some realistic things.

The 9" is sucking a lot of power. That is a reason your HP number is much lower in the dyno results than the torque #.

I measured my IAT's at 5PSI before adding the FMIC. 130+ degrees normal cruising in Hawaii w/ around 85 degree outside temp and 80% humidity. Computer begins massively pulling timing above 100 degrees.

With the FMIC my IAT's have never exceeded 104, and that was driving the car like a total a$$. The STS intake pipe comes close to the driver side header, and the radiator/ power steering pump cooler lines. The intake charge picks up a lot of heat from these. Bottom line, you really DO need a FMIC, regardless of the BS STS puts out.

Just my $0.02

Those #'s aren't too bad, especially your torque. You said that your motor was completely stock except for intake and tb. What about your valvetrain? Did you do any mods? The LS1 valvetrain is really weak. How's your stock springs holding up to the added boost?

I agree with Schantin. Theres plenty of guys on here that are seeing IAT's in the 120-135 range at 5psi without an IC. I dont think its safe to say an STS kit can operate year round unless its getting a cooler charge from an IC.

Can you give some more details. Like what turbo?

The turbo is a t67 and no nothing has been done to the valvetrain. He told me with a boosted car they might float alittle so the first 2 pulls were easy than we laid into her the last ones because it should no floating of the valves.

youll need them for 6+ psi or if you swap in a bigger cam (like LS6). Your right on target for a T67. I'd say a stock 10bolt in your car would make 415-420rwhp.

Yeah, but I'd rather be safe. I don't care about the power its sucking up im good with what I got if I want to go more boost I always can am set up for it. I can say I have room for improvement which alot of people don't with out changing there set up. Because they wanna go ***** to the wall no matter what. But, those also are the boys that have more money than me.

i ran 7.5psi on the stock motor with 12.0 AFR and made 472/501, but if you would like to run over 5psi with the maximum benefits, get the FMIC, fuel springs and a cam and you'll be in my neighboorhood. i firmly recommend you try a TRT cam, very good bumbers IMO

I'd at least do the valve springs...patriot duals are what most of us are running. They were a BIATCH to isntall...but I've heard of valve float at 5 psi so you may want to keep that in mind.

We should start a poll, how long will 00WS6WHITE go at 5psi...? I'm going to guess around 6 weeks, then he'll up the boost!!
