Very briefly looked at the Felpros and stock graphite gaskets with an o-ring in the head...stock "might" be better....getting the firing ring to indent with the o-ring is a great exercise in gasket location as the firing ring is mucho narrow....

I've actually gone 172 but who's keepin track.

We start to wear out the caps form taking them off and on so much. You can just take some pliers and bend the tabs that engage the neck in a little. Realy seals up tight then.
Kyle, check your overflow line and make sure there are no kinks or tight bends in it.
Kp, good luck with the new heads. You are making a bunch of power. How much does that blower eat up?

I am going to start bending the caps tighter, didnt even think of that. They seal great around the neck when they are new but after a while that springy brass washer that holds the tension on the gasket that seals the top of the neck gets soft and it starts spraying water out around the cap..

Blower takes 50-70hp probably up top, not much more then the 145amp alternator thats powering all the electrical crap in the car though

I'm just going to slow it down for 9.50 or so and run a couple of the NMCA EFI index class races so it should hold up just fine. I know the dart heads are supposed to be better quality aluminum but they are really thin on the deck compared to the AFRs (at least the ones I have, like .390 or so), just going on mass here and I may be wrong but we'll see soon enough.

i think this week im going to put about 150 pounds in the bumper of my car and take it for a ride down the track saturday and sun next week.... its a drag radial class... should be fun... ill let you know how it goes...

i think ill end up trying to run a 3.73 gear with a spool.... when my eaton breaks..... i'll probably have to end up killing the timing off the line to get it to keep the tires planted since i have no shocks.... and im broke for a while

Eaton will last a long time in a auto car, just make 100% sure you have both tires in the water when you do a burnout - one tire in and one out will roast the clutches in one burnout and it will never be the same..

Man, that sucks. The strange Winter we've had is probably the cause of a lot of people continually being sick. I've been lucky so far, getting sick right now would really put me behind. I put in 80+ hours this week, and I'm still behind! Bob

Kills me, 64 degrees, sunny, 30.3 barometer, no wind, tracks open.. But i'm only about 70%, and dont want to end up in the hospital just to make a few passes - always next weekend..

I did wash and wax it the other day though, still looks good decent for a 9 year old car thats been raced quite a bit the last 3 years

Have you thought about using the Cometic MLS. I pushed 18.2#s off boost with them (LS6 Heads)...but that was only on a load dyno...not the strip.

The Cometics MLS are completely coated....I am in need of a new set though...I used "copper coat" when I assembled the long block, but when I removed the gaskets from the block it tore the coatings off of the metal.

They come in a .65" which would lower your CR down to around 8.9:1...assuming GM MLS gaskets are .50" crushed, and you are at 9.3:1.

I have tried them, they dont work any better for me then the GM MLS but cost twice as much so I may as well use the GM stuff. I'm happy with my compression where it is.
