Default Turbo "sock"?

hey guys,

awhile ago I was doing some reading about the STS kids, and someone meantioned a turbo "sock" I think it was called

where can I find these, and do they replace the air filter?

Because right now I've got a 4" inlet to the turbo for an air filter, but I can't fit a filter on there because its too close to the front bumper

I don't think i'll beable to find a stubby enough air filter

would this sock work just as well??

I think what you might be referring to as a turbo sock is a pre-filter/dry charger. A sock style cover that fits over the air filter to prevent smaller particles from reaching the air filter. They are made to work with your existing air filter as long as the prefilter is big enough to fit your filter.

The company that makes these is outerwears.com

yes sir it is not a replacement. The pre filter sock is great for keeping small particles like sand and road dust out of the air filter and works exceptionally on keeping moisture/water out except in massive puddles and bad rain storms. But I have heard that you are not suppose to run the sock under boost due to possible lack/starvation of air to the trubo.

I have seen them before in 4" but I can't remember what site. If you can't find one in 4" you might have tof igure a way to reduce it or make the filter slightly larger.

Go to KN's website and look up one that is like RU2510 or something like that. It's a 4" inlet filter that is maybe only 4 inches tall.

I ran RU2510 with my custom YSi setup. Most KN's are at least $35 going to $55.
