Default Cheapest F/I kit for LS1?

I'm sure many are aware of some cheap but decent Forced Induction kits out there for the LS1. Specifically 98+ z28/ss f-bodys.
I'm looking to get a kit for myself, for around 4k or under.

Any supercharger kits out there? I'm not so much a fan of STS rear mounted turbokits.

Thanks,
Patrick

It will be difficult to get into a Procharger at that price. The F1a head unit is 2800.00 by itself. Raise your budget and maybe Bob @ EPP could do something for you.

no matter which FI route you go, prepare to spend some $$$$. even if you think you can keep a budget, the unexpected always happens...

If you buy a kit for around 4500.00 and even install it yourself, you still have to pin the crank, get it tuned and then you break stuff,it never ends.So your cheap kit cost you over time. You are not just done with it.It is very addicting.

for a lesser budget procharger P1SC base system seams to do well, seen a few LS1 fbodies in the area of nearly 500rwhp, with the only extras being a intank pump, injectors, dyno tune etc.

Cheapest and easiest would be to piece together a blower setup.
D1SC or P1SC: around $1k ( less if used )
FMIC: $4-500 if done yourself
Bracket, Pullies, and SDCE tensioner setup: Around $700
injectors and a fuel pump: $5-600
Tuning: $500
Roughly $3k, depending on what you buy new and/or used. This will get you about 450-480rwhp. Remember it's only the begining though. Add a clutch if your a M6, and a rear end if you plan on putting traction down. The list goes on and on from this point.

It's possible if you buy a used kit, but I would say more around $5k...not $4k.

The crank on our LS1 is not keyed. When you add a supercharger of anytype you want to "key the crank." That is done by drilling a hole about 1/4" into the crank and pulley from teh front, then installing hardened steel pins. This prevents the crank pulley from spinning off when you start hitting boost. Basically you are installing a key. When that blower starts pushing that motor with the extra belt it can back the bolt out of the crank or create massive belt slipping lol.

Its a bitch to line back up later if you remove it though for cams or what not so make sure you get it all done prior to installing the pin. Its not hard to do nor expensive, but if you go with a S/C its definitly something you have to do. The last one i did i lost the pin so I cut a 1/4" cobalt drill bit and used the soild end as the pin lol. Most venders have kits for these, and they are not too bad on price. Check with venders that sell alot of ATI's, Vortechs, or Magnachargers. They will have them.
